well one bonus in all this is the dining discount going up to 20% for all passes (if I read right).... and the shopping discount staying at 20%. they could have done away with both all together and they didn't.

That's will be an interesting transition to watch play out. Essentially it seems they're trying to turn it back into a tool to get locals into the parks and not a discount card for anyone to purchase.

that's only for the bottom 2 passes though.

The second from bottom is the closest (price wise) to old silver i think? But they fundamentally changed calendar. That second from bottom pass now allows more weekdays in summer etc. Vs silver blocking out entire months. But it trades those for alot of weekend block outs all year. The pass above is imho based on blackouts and price the old "gold" pass. The weekend thing is a bigger deal to me because i work....missing summer was no big deal but under this new system i would have to step up to enjoy the parks like i used to. Doubt thats going to happen.

I guess im a product of design. The whole price more APs out to help with the crowds.

You don’t have to have the same pass as others in your group. If you really want the on-ride photos, since they don’t offer much more, I presume you could add the $99 add-on to just one pass and get them all.

Assuming you always ride together? Or can you go over and claim photos of others?

I can get the proletariat plus pass for $899 and won’t be stuck with the bourgeoisie pass for $400 more that I don’t need. Everyone else in my state would be stuck with that.

Still holding out hope for a discount. We will see.

Exactly. I joined DVC in March so I've never been able to purchase the Gold Pass. Now I can pay $180 more per pass, be blocked out from Thanksgiving (which I am going this year), and pay $100 for Memory Maker. Not seeing a bone.

As I've understood it the diversity of consumer laws state-by-state make the actual implementation of that impossible. They would literally need 50 different sets of terms and conditions (one for each state) which is just unmanageable.

I'm slightly surprised by how little this actually changes. It's a price increase and a perk removed. I assumed they'd try to change more when they had the chance. Oh, and the names for these things make no sense at all.

It is really the same as it was before, where Platinum and Platinum Plus were the only ones available for out of state. Since there is now no direct equivalent for Platinum Plus, that leaves only the Platinum equivilant.
