Hess to Operate Gasoline Stations at Walt Disney World Resort And to Serve as Venue Sponsor at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla., March 4, 2004 -- The Walt Disney World Resort and Amerada Hess Corporation have entered into a multi-year agreement by which Hess will operate three service stations on Walt Disney World Resort property as Hess Express locations. Hess will also become title sponsor of the Sports Fields venue at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex, which will include a 20-acre expansion this summer.
Hess is a leading company in the petroleum industry with more than 1,200 gas stations as part of its retail marketing operation throughout the eastern United States. The three Hess Express locations on Walt Disney World Resort property will include the Car Care Center near the Magic Kingdom, Disney's BoardWalk and Downtown Disney Pleasure Island. All three Hess Express service stations will be remodeled and reopened by March 30.
The Hess Express convenience stores at Walt Disney World will be state-of-the-art retail facilities, blending traditional convenience store items, gourmet coffee and high-quality foods in a physically attractive presentation that is both high-tech and friendly.
In addition, Hess also will receive naming rights to the Sports Fields venue at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The Sports Fields at Disney's 200-acre athletic complex currently include four fields for football, soccer and other sports. As part of the Hess sponsorship, the facility will undergo a 20-acre expansion this summer to include an additional four multi-sport fields and four diamonds for baseball and softball. The Hess Sports Fields will accommodate more than 10 sports upon completion of the new venue.
