News Walt Disney World launches new seasonal Water Park Pass

The solution in my opinion is:

1. Improve transport to get there. Easy, regular, direct bus routes to the water parks. Add Skyliner.
2. Invest in new attractions. Both parks are stale and have had very little investment in new additions. They feel stale.

Doing both of those I think would restore new interest in the parks and significantly boost attendance.

Skyliner to Blizzard Beach would probably include a major expansion connecting BB/Coronado /AK and maybe the All Stars

Every local I know has the add ons. At $99 it's a no brainer. The problem is a lot of locals gave up their APs. For the General Public, $70 PP for a family of 4 on top of the whatever the cost is for a multi-day ticket, on top of a Disney Hotel Room, on top of Food, on top of Airfare, etc for only a single open water park that is showing it's age is a tough pill to swallow.
Well they’re not really “add ons” then

They’re “subs”…for the expensive parks that are designed to sell volume of merch and snacks at high profit.

…takes people to buy them though

No real indication of that…though it makes alot of sense for crowd flow.

You want to draw traffic away from magic kingdom to the “lower parks”…so having springs, Epcot, mgm, dak interconnected would do that by default.

The boardwalk “spur” would be a natural connection point and you follow BVD to DAK

I for one welcome more UGLY and A/C less Death boxes dangling all across the property.

The place also opens at 10 and closes at 5. Which kinda sucks. You can't even have dinner there.

The water park business is an early indication of how the theme parks can be impacted in the future if they don't invest/act now.

Excluding Volcano Bay, Aquatica stole locals from WDW water parks that found it expensive, H20 at Margaritaville took away the "day of" decision-makers staying around US-192 that wanted to kill an off day, and a lot of offsite hotels have added water parks to their hotels (Gaylord/Marriot/etc.) reducing the need to pay extra for a water park.

Well…back in the olden days…

You could go to the waterpark, dry out, then go to a fabulous one of kind theme park for dinner at about $50 a day on a cost saving multi day ticket…and give them merch money at 75-90% profit…

It was about 10 years ago 🤪

I wonder if this is to drive up attendance to show their value, And that there is a need to have both opened at the same time.
Maybe they want to add another one or expand and the current attendance doesnt show that ROI.

Just an out of the blue guess.

Im gonna call this the fair pass. The weather will have to be fairly warm if you want to swim. The crowds will be fairly small so not many people will be there. The slides will be in fairly good condition though maintenance will be needed soon. The odds of having the water park closed due to the cold will be fairly high as winter sets in. Spring will start with a fair amount of people showing up before the eventual spring break blitz which will lead to a lot of people buying this ticket. People will complain later that it was not fair that this ticket is only good for a few months and those months are typically when both parks are down the most. Yeah fair pass seems like a good name.

Publicly announced. The project likely commenced years prior with planning, financing, engineering.
Yeah, these days we have to be clear when talking about this stuff - it wasn't a "blue sky" announcement when it was made.

They had already done all the research and planning and intended to actually build it at that point.

You don't show value by providing near-free admission.

They're going to be looking at the money earned determine their value - just like they do everything on property.

Something appearing popular doesn't really matter to management. If it's popular and making big profits, yes if not and there is no way to make more money off it, tear it down and use the space for a DVC for all they'd care.

... I guess someone might be looking to justify G+ and ILL in the water parks.

Joking of course but I'd see them try to do that before pushing to have them both open at the same time unless resort attendance overall was so through the roof they needed extra space to pack some of the on-site crowds after fully staffing the theme parks.

It's almost like decisions for short-term profits are not the way to run a business. Eventually, you get caught like Blockbuster, Sears, etc.

Next year is looking very soft, with the hopes of 2025 being a bounce back thanks to Mario and friends. (EU will draw more people to WDW overall.)

Could they keep the park reservation system to measure demand and to discourage local daytrip marauders? Alternate suggestion would be to limit BB to non-guests and limit TL to Resort guests only or vice-versa.
