Walt Disney World Holiday Season 2024

I'm likely to face criticism for saying this, but I believe the artisans behind the Spaceship Earth gingerbread display missed the mark. While it's undoubtedly an impressive feat, I don't think it captures the true essence of the holiday season. Those same geodesic tiles could easily be replicated using cardboard and achieve a similar visual impact. The fact that it's made of gingerbread is "on-point" but for me, that's only half the equation. The other half is about capturing the warm, inviting spirit of the holiday season and embracing the whimsy and charm of gingerbread baking during the holidays.

The beacons of light could have been designed using traditional accents like spice drops or peppermint candies, which I think would have enhanced the overall experience. Don't get me wrong; it's a skillfully crafted piece. However, for me, it falls short of truly feeling festive.
I agree it could be much better. BUT... almost all the gingerbread houses bigger than 2 feet tall are just gingerbread glued to wood or cardboard. Let me know when they're made of nothing but gingerbread, and I'll be impressed.

As for the whole ambience of the room: Still disappointingly sterile. Have they not heard of wall decorations?

Maybe more is to come. Or maybe it'll be like other holiday displays in which the budget allows them to add more year over year (like LwtL Christmas lights).

Alright, time to start with the posts about how maybe for Festival of the Arts CommuniCore Hall will finally not be a joke.

Then we'll start acting like it'll happen for Flower and Garden.

Then inexplicably people will continue to hold out hope for the next Food and Wine.

On and on.

And it'll never actually happen.

I would assume at this point, if it is not up by now, it is not coming. Yes the Gingerbread Spaceship Earth is nice...but I agree fall below the mark. Why is this "Flex Space" still sterile? As the center for celebrations at EPCOT this space should be spectacular...Think of all of the things they don't do anymore... Lights Of Winter etc...and this is the best they can come up with? Seriously if they would like to contact me for ideas I would love to work on this project. They need to budget this properly and start making it the "Celebration Center" it was supposed to be...not a cafeteria with some decorations...

Just starting to catch up on this thread…..

Those outfits are dreadful IMO. Not in any way flattering to any of the performers. What a shame.☹️

They really are terrible. From my understanding they wanted to move away from colonial outfits, but this is not the right solution. My thought would be to either allow each performer to pick an area of the country to have their outfit sort of be influenced by while sticking to similar color palette so they all kind of go tougher as a group. But what they currently have looks really cheap and lazy.

December 19 is the next Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party date that has now sold out.

1 date remains available: December 17.
I will be on site that day - just not seeing the value in the party. If anyone has gone this year and wants to talk me into it, I’m all ears. It’s just 2 adults, including one diabetic, so cookies and so forth are not much of a draw.

We’re going 12/16-12/18, the last days our AP’s work before the blockout. staying offsite and hitting the parks.

And. 12/24-12/26 staying at Port Orleans - Riverside, but no parks. Plenty already booked to do, and some relaxation (er, drinking?) time. 😊

Oof the Christmas parties at MK this year were not enjoyable in the slightest. Way overcrowded. Last year we went on the same day and it was awesome with noticeably lower crowds than the daytime and low waits. This year felt like like a mid afternoon crowd on a holiday. We probably won’t do another one.

Conversely MK the morning of a party is delightful.
