Many people seem to think that Walt Disney's idea for EPCOT was his own creation. Yet, in reality, it was nothing more than a rather cheap copy of Futurama which was devised by General Motors for the 1939 Worlds Fair.

Further Futurama facts...

Did you know that GM's Futurama pavilion, when it was brought back to the 64-65 World's Fair was the only non-Disney pavilion in the top 5 most visited pavilions? Furthermore, though all four Disney pavilions (It's a Small World, Progressland, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln, and Magic Skyway presented by Ford) were in the top 5 pavilions, Futurama was still the most visited pavilion.
