Most "Futuristic"" Disney attractions tend not to spend much time in the future and are still inspirational and about looking forward.

Your suggestion was that it spend essentially zero time on the future, not just that it spend minimal time on the future.

This isn't about the topic of Disney tendencies..(which I'd debate your point too).. It's about the premise and moral of THIS attraction. It's literally trying to lead the audience to being optimistic about their future.

How do you do that with only focusing on progress from decades ago? The attraction isn't a celebration of our history, it's a narrative about progress and how it's improved our lives and to make you believe all this trajectory will continue forward. That's why the show has a 'leaping off point' as the finale.. not a conclusion or wrap-up.

So how do you establish a forward leaning optimism about the future if you stop back in the 90s? The attraction isn't supposed to just leave you with "Good Job guys, you did well"

Given southeastern's background I wonder if this means works needed to the actual turntable. It does feel a bit bumpy and rough when it rotates these days.

When COP opened in 1971, the 1920s was "50 years ago". Now 50 years ago is the 1970s. They're actually starting a decade earlier in the 1960s which makes sense as Walt will be introducing the show and WDW was in development then. It ties in nicely with Walt's vision for EPCOT and continual progress.

In 1971 the Carousel of Progress was still at Disneyland and didn’t start in the 1920s…

What are the chances it will spin at speeds higher than 50 mph

My least favorite attraction at WDW. The only reason to go is to get a nice 20 min nap in an air conditioned building. The problem is my grand kids know how much I dislike this attraction and fight to sit next to me. They make sure I do not nod off to sleep. It has become a big family joke to keep grand pa awake the entire time.

If the whole carousel were to turn at a speed such that it could make 7 revolutions per minute without stopping for a show scene, the back row would be traveling at 50 mph.

Just a guess that they're probably going to be tearing apart a lot of the theater and will need to remove the seats to perform work. Might as well wait until that happens to fully install all new seats? idk just a thought
