At the end Tom says a roll out in the next couple months, I wonder if they will contact people with existing reservations or only new bookings? We are booked for September but haven't gotten any info from disney regarding magic+ .

I had to chuckle when the hosts alluded to the fact that Uni has cooler rides and asked if Disney was going in that direction and he talked about ordering your Be Our Guest lunch a month before you're going to eat it. (Like that will top Spider-Man, Harry Potter, The Simpsons or The Mummy.)

I also noticed his Typical Disney Lie about how they have immersive experiences while Uni just has coasters. I know it's his job to tell those lies and don't really hold it against him, personally...but Disney has to stop trying to lie about Uni and start focusing on cool rides instead of dumb wristbands. IMO.

I don't want really anything he brought up. Wasn't one thing that made me want a band.

It was interesting to watch.

Not that this means much, but I just got off a chat session with a Disney CM and she said that they haven;t been given any info on it either. I hate how vague this whole thing is. It would be nice if they would at least offer a tentative date.

It was interesting when the hostess, who said she doesn't like Disney, said that Uni felt like, I believe she said a box. Whereas she felt charmed at Disney.

I agree that nothing really made me want to get a wristband, but it would be nice if they did use it to draw crowds to a different area. Although I don't want my "secret" quiet areas to become busy.

So many lines to read between in that interview!

You really get to see the business angle of MyMagic+. The underlying plan of marketing and crowd control and how to leverage the customer into "opting in".

The female host is unbearable to watch. She trying so hard to craft a snarky, intellectual persona but it just reads as miserable and dull.

One Little Spark...
That hostess is a grump.
Both of them were.

Also, I loved how he guy referred to Disney as not "digital". I am glad he was reminded about Space Mountain. He probably has no idea what the word "digital" means, or at least his comments alluded that he did not. He obviously never saw Epcots original ride control systems room in Communicore West.

Then again, the two of them probably would have given praise to the concept if it automatically posted to your Facebook and tweeted every time you burped. Cause, you know...that's "digital".

I bet they have no issues with Google scouring your gmail for targeted ads, or. Storing and analyzing search patterns for the same purposes. No issues with GPS on phones and tracking / monitoring technology to make "recommendations" around town. Cause that's "digital".

But, Disney introduces limited use (and optional) technology that required (even for the Bluetooth) quite a localized infrastructure, and they are skeptical and imply that is an "invasion".

I found them both hostile, offensive, and within the scope of this interview, truly ignorant. I am not a fan of MM+, but I though Staggs presented in an intriguing way and handled them quite well.

I noticed how Staggs didn't say the actual amount of attractions you'd be able to get FPs for with the band. Instead he just said a "number of" attractions.

Thats because the idea of one, maybe two E-tickets and a few crappy attractions doesn't score well with the community. ;) Saying a number of attractions skirts that issue.

It's either this, which is definitely a strong possibility, or they truly don't know. Only time will tell. I wish they just would've asked more FP+ questions in general. It didn't seem like they cared about that too much.

That's a great point... Well ,you have a lot of them here, but with all the drooling WDW fans do over things coming to other Disney parks, this isn't going to have anyone salivating. This is really garnish to the experience. There's nothing wrong with it in the least, and it has some cool things, even if people don't like the gathering of personal info... But again, there's so many other things at WDW that should have been invested in first. I don't get the expense, but I understand the investment.

The only interesting thing about his UNI comments is to finally see the reaction of a Disney suit confronted with the "UNI is cooler; their rides are cooler." And I have to say, as being a big supporter of Staggs initially, his response is really disappointing considering what his response should have been...

"You cut out the part where she said 'I want to go to Universal.'"

When the guy talked about adding digital tech to the rides at 19 minutes in, and asks Staggs to give him an example of current Disney rides that use it like UNI, he had to interrupt him when Staggs listed the example as Be Our Guest , and he wanted rides. He threw out Star Tours, but that's a huge indicator of where the mindset is and is very telling, imo.

I do like his comment about not losing the "Disney charm" with IASW and POTC. But it's obvious Tom hasn't visited TWWOHP. I mean, come on man... WDW isn't the only one to tell a story or is immersive.

It was a good video; Tom Staggs did a nice job introducing MM+ to guests, although I think guests will need to see it in action before it truly sinks in.

Sadly, I didn't learn anything new. I really need to get a life.:)

You or @flynnibus could have probably given the interview and known more about the tech than Staggs. I'm sure his handlers breathed a sigh of relief that he didn't botch any of the technical stuff up. He actually did do a pretty good job IMHO.

Yeah...you are right. He should have said...not digital? One of our most popular rides is a life sized version of an iPad video game! Take THAT Universal!

Tom Staggs said that Universal just has roller coasters? HAHAHA. Oh, that comment always kills me.

In the hosts defense, they stated many times they didn't know the proper terms for theme park lingo, etc and apologized for it, as it's not their thing. I did actually like that they weren't Disney marks. We've been wanting that for so long, so the snarkiness didnt bother me when they pressed him on things. I just wish he was talking to people who DID know their theme parks. They just prefered UNI and let him know it... At every chance they got :D
