Upset, many rides closed while I am planned to go to WDW!

Beta Return
I am planned to go in mid June of this year and so far I noticed that the following attractions will be closed:

Space Mountain
TomarowLand Transit Authority
Hall of Presidents

And more that I cant remember right now since I am so mad.

That's progress for you. If nothing ever closed, you'd be mad that things were falling apart or closed because they were broken.

We went in January and my absolute favorite attraction, Splash Mountain, was closed for it's yearly paint job and flume cleaning. I was so bummed, BUT, I know I'll be again and it will be open that time.

So, now you have an excuse to go one more time at least

I find it strange that on this thread many are saying its OK because there is a lot more to WDW than just rides. At the same time another thread is open about a family who went to EPCOT and only found one ride at the park. Many in that thread are saying how ridiculous it is to go to WDW and not ride the rides. Also how it is incomprehensible that one would ever go to WDW without first planning out their every move so they can ride every ride there is...

Apples and oranges.

In one scenario, a family only found one ride, not that there weren't more. In the other the complaint is that a few favorites are closed and the poster is upset and people are saying there are other rides.

In both cases, it comes down to the more you know before you go the better you can enjoy what is available, but from two different perspectives.

That's like the whole park. Well, they might as well just close down all four parks, refund everyone and then pay guests compensation for "lack of magic".

Thats too bad, Space Mountain is kind of a loss, But the WEDway not being open really hurts, thats a pain I may have to endure soon too. My condolences man.

Dont worry, Sea World and Universal will have some new attractions open. Head over there. Lets face it Disney needs the refurbs, and theres more chance of a protestant pope than Disney building something additional to take up the strain while they refurb their fading parks, and its going to get worse as the longer they leave things to fix the longer they will take to rehab.

Apples and oranges - not so much, at least in my opinion.

In one thread there is a consensus that in order to have fun you must ride all the rides or at least as many as possible. In the other thread the consensus is - well yea some rides are down but hey, WDW is much more than just rides as there is plenty of other stuff to do.

Simple answer, everyone does not think the same way.

Not everyone thinks.
Quite true. I am not sure if that comment was pointing to me though.
Honestly, I am missing the point. If Jmvd20 is saying that there are specific people saying two different things on separate threads then there is a point. However, if the point is that there seems to be more than one consensus, well, okay.

Now youve totally lost me :lol:

To be fair to the OP they were no doubt just looking at things from a narrow perspective. And I know that many from here book far ahead, long before rehabs are announced. Its not so much the not being able to ride, its the extra bums on seats it puts on other rides increasing wait times.

Okay, not important. I am going to play Switzerland on this and say that I can see both sides of the issue.

My family and I usually go to WDW every year in July. But with Space mt. closed, this will be the first year that I wont go. Im going in a few days to ride it one last time then Im done for this year, or atleast until Space is back open. My dad says he's still going, but Im not.

Is this sarcastic? If not, if your dad is paying, i would go. If you still don't want to, what are his views on adoption...

I think where this is coming from is that I read the entire thread about a family only finding one ride at EPCOT immediately prior to reading this one. On a general level, and not talking about any one member sepcifically the EPCOT thread is dominated by people saying that hitting as many rides as possible is a must and if you dont do that on your trip to WDW then you are throwing your money away. However, this thread seems to be dominated by an opposite viewpoint which is dont worry about rides being closed, after all there is a ton of other stuff to do at WDW.

Maybe it is just the way I read through the other thread but it seemed to me that many people were actually insulting the intelligence and other characteristics of anyone who would be so silly as to travel to WDW and not care about the rides- this thread on the other hand seemed to be a complete 180 turn from that viewpoint.

Of course there are different opinions and viewpoints about every issue... Anyway - it was just an observation and I thought it was amusing after reading both threads one after the other - if no one else agrees oh well, I'll be allright... maybe... :D

Gotcha. It is interesting how some people think that someone is somehow inferior if they have a different viewpoint.

That is the way I took it but perhaps others feel differently.

I'll go off on a somewhat related story for a minute. A former co-worker of mine loves golf, he went to WDW a while ago and I asked him if he had a good time. He said that he had a great time - I then asked him what he did such as rides, fireworks, shows etc... all he cared about was golf, didn't go anywhere other than MK and said it was boring so he left early and hit another course.

While I personally may think he is crazy it is only my opinion - he actually is talking about going back to play more golf and stay on property again. To me the bottom line is whether or not someone had fun on their vacation and this is just another example of how people can have fun without feeling forced to do everything WDW has to offer.

Yep, although it is hard not to think that your former co-worker is crazy. It actually comes up a lot with me. My wife does not like the parks as much as I do so we wind up compromising with each other. I have to say that over the years I have come to appreciate non-park days almost as much as park days.

Only one poster in this thread actually said that. How is that a "consensus"?

Ellens Energy Adventure

Oh well. Ill have time to pay more attention to other things I suppose.

I wonder why they scheduled all of these to be closed at once thoguh?

This is funny how the OP edited the original post HOURS later to make it sound like they had a much less negative outlook. :hammer:
