Warner Bros.' LEGO franchise is officially over. WB and LEGO opted not to renew their production deal last fall thanks to The Second Part underperforming, and LEGO is currently in talks with Universal to produce future LEGO movies. They're also trying to keep Dan Lin on board as well.
As for how Universal's movies could connect to The LEGO Movie? They probably won't, since WB owns the film's original characters (as well as the DC ones).
