Seriously though, would that actually be a bad thing if true? HHN is too popular for its own good, and anyone being drawn away would still be giving their money to Universal, as opposed to if they waited for someone else to do it, because there WILL be another year-round haunted attraction in Orlando, it's just a matter of when.

I think this would be a complimentary piece to HHN, not direct competition (sort of) like Howl-o-Scream, because it would give people a taste of the event without requiring them to come here in the fall. There are probably a lot of people who would like to experience HHN but schedule their only visit in the summer or winter. At the very least, this would give them a better idea if it's something they really want to shell out for.

To add to your good points:

At the end of the day studies and revenue has proven that most Haunt fans will work to visit another haunt rather than only one.

Vegas does not have the ability to easily have its own theme park, but it has proven to be the audience for annual events. A single year round one within that building that is supported by the Area 15 as a whole is the perfect foot traffic and off the strip attitude. People are looking to Vegas to more than just gamble, smoke and drink. The locals will love something that is so different every year, one of the biggest reasons Annual Passholders and fanatics love HHN so much. It is the theme park quality that is new every year.

Then you have the surrounding counties/states within driving distance that will support it as their own best and main haunt attraction of the season. Great synergy for the studio too to get big name IPSs in with the quality Universal's haunts are known for.

It'll look like Universal will be ready to debut a new hotel (that didn't even start going vertical until this past November) by the time Moana opens. Construction on the first EU resort area hotel has been ridiculously fast.

That coaster is looking super short. I'm also not sure how it would be a swing launch. The track on each side of the launch is very different from something like Ice Breaker. I could easily see the train going right over the previous turn and valleying.
