Most of the layoffs were in sales. A spokesman denied that more jobs would be cut.

Twenty-four employees of Universal Orlando, mostly in its sales operations, lost their jobs Thursday in a restructuring the company said isn't related to the uncertainties at French parent Vivendi Universal.

The departures, which included several managers, sent rumors rippling through employee ranks that more are on the way. Spokesman Jim Canfield denied that.

I can't say I blame them for cutting back marketing operations. It has never been a stong point for them and unless they hire people with talent for their marketing staff it won't get it any better.

Here's hoping that VP from hell in entertainment gets the boot very soon...

BTW, it sure is coincidental that these layoffs/firings occured during the re-audition week, isn't it? [Sarcasm is most certainly implied]

After hearing a little bit more about what has happened in entertainment this week, anyone who is entertainment at UO right now definitely has my respect. It has not been a good work environment to say the least.

P.S. The latest rumor going around is that Universal Orlando may be letting go of 10% of it's staff, or will be cutting costs by 10%, depending on who you talk to. It sounds pretty wild, but no one really expected for the directors to get hit today either.
