I`m sure there was a thread a while ago here - some sort of tyre ride but with underwater jets to propel the guests along - I think.

Great pictures, I'm glad to see they are expanding Typhoon Lagoon.

And to answer your question flyersmv, The blasters at Schlitterbahn have regular queues, stairways, etc. However the queue at Schitterbahn Beach, which is a totally seperate park in a totaly seperate city has a main river, and most of the slides split off directly from the river, so yes you just lie in your tubes in the queue.

What i have been wondering for a while is why Disney have never in the summer opened the water parks to say 9 or 9.30. I know that they would need to put in lighting but it would be worth it wen u think of the number of people who go to the resort pools at nite.

Do u not think that summit plummit would be cool in the dark? Or if they had a line of LEDs down the side of slides it would be quite cool.

I saw this constrcution while i was there just over a week ago. I didn't manage to get a pic, but for anyone who wants to get one its very easy. Go to the end of the main mens changing block behind all the lockers. There is an entrance saying 'Crew members only' but there is no gate or blocked way. Walk, or stick your hand around the corner you can get a good photo. Or if you only want to look you can see through the fence.

As for the night time idea, they would need so much lighting to be installed so all the life guards can keep the place safe. During my day there i saw 2 rescues, one minor one where a kid just got moved to more shallow water and one serious, where a girl was in serious trouble. Not sure of all the details, but i saw them bring a stretcher into the water, an ambulance came, and the pool was closed at least 30 mins. She was ok though. (You should see how fast those lifeguards are in diving into the pool!)

They do dive in real quick. Last time i was there in the 30-40 mins i waited to get on summit plummit i heard a 6 blasts of a lifeguards whistle. Then later we actually saw a lifeguard jumpin in after this little girl. That was not good about the girl u talk about. What was worrying was when we were at BB last year and there was an announcement for someone to contact a lifeguard or go directly to guest services type bit. They made an announcement at EPCOT one nite we were there as well, never good to hear, cos if i remember isnt it the case that Disney only make an announcement for someone to contact guest services or contact a number if someone has died?

I'll agree. The water parks here where I live were at one time open till 10pm each night. Under the lights is a totally different experience, just like Big Thunder. They have ceased nighttime sliding b/c of lack of visitirs, but I am sure that there would not be such a problem at WDW, especially during the spring, summer and fall months. I know I would take full advantage of night time water parks!

About 4 or 5 years ago both TL and BB were open until 8:30. TL was open until 11:00 pm friday night during the summer of 1999 or 2000, it was sponsered by a local radio stations. I went 5 times that summer friday night and TL lighting was great in the wave pool, some of the walkways were dark.

Typhoon has the lighting installed to be open after dark, but it hasnt been open to the general public after dark for many years. It now seems to be special event exclusive. It is open until around 10 almost every night during the summer for private surf events. The park also hosted the wrap party for Lilo and Stitch, the Tampa Bay Bucs, and the annual gay and lesbian week Watermark party. All of these events had every attraction open.

Now you say that i do remember that vaguely. Surfsupdon is rite i dont think disney would have those probs and im sure there would be plenty of folk who would love to go on the rides after dark. And i think that it would look cool with LEDs used to light up the rides or even if they had them pained so they could turn bright flourescent colours if they used black lights to light up the slides.
