Tusker House Reservation

Hello everyone. I am a seasons Disney goes but I recently started to go by myself. I’m going in early September for 9 days. Growing up my family would always bring food to the parks because of dietary restrictions that my parents had. Now that I go alone I like to try all the food and that includes sitting down at the restaurant. For this upcoming trip on one of the Animal Kingdom days that I have planned, I booked Tusker House for 5:45pm. No if I’m not mistaken, Animal Kingdom closes at like six or 7 o’clock. How is my reservation going to work? Am I going to get escorted out of the park after I’m done? am I gonna be rushed? Will I still have the same dining experience that I would if I booked a slot at 2 o’clock? What are the pros and cons of grabbing the last time slot? Please I could really use your help if I’m going to be rushed. I will just change the reservation to be earlier, but I need to know before I go.

I can only share my experience, I don't have absolute information (I don't know about any official rules), but what I can share might help.... We have never been rushed, we always enjoy our dining experience even late ressies, and they have never kicked us out or rushed us out and they didn't escort us out either. The stores were still open and people were still shopping. It is almost as if the employees expect to be working for an hour or so after official close time. For example, if you are in line for an attraction before park closes, they will get you on the ride. Guardians of the Galaxy is an 80 minute wait, park closes at 9:00, if you get in line at 8:30, they will get you on the ride even if it is at 9:50. We've always had the same experience with dining too; fortunately with dining we didn't have an 80 minute wait so it was even better. Personally, We like having the later ressie so that dinner doesn't cut too deeply into park time, especially when the park closes earlier. I hope you enjoy Tusker House. Happy trip planning.

Will I still have the same dining experience

There was one specific experience we had with late reservations. At MK we went to Be Our Guest, we were the last seating that evening. I ordered salmon. Everything was great, except my salmon, it was full of tiny bones. I have a big ick with bones in my fish, and I had a big expectation for that meal, which didn't include a mouth full of bone frags with every bite. I asked the server if it were possible to swap it with another one, she was happy to take it away but later came back and said i was served the last piece and they didn't have any more, she asked if I would like anything else instead. It was so late that I declined and thanked her for trying to help. A manager came over and gave us a fistful of snack/dessert tickets to apologize, but oddly enough, they were only good for same day. We thought it was a crazy mistake since the park was supposed to be closed before we left BOG. The manager did ask us if we have a snack/dessert spot we like to go to and someone in our group said they were still in the mood for ice cream from the shop on main street. The manager, in a very sweet and encouraging voice, suggested we stop in there before we leave. I thought she, again, was mistaken since it should be well closed by then. We left BOG and walked toward main street at our own pace. When we got to the ice cream shop there were about a dozen employees standing in a receiving line in front and they greeted us like they knew who we were and they spent well over 30 minutes with us, all of the employees catering to us. It was all incredibly unnecessary, intense, unexpected, and very, very kind of them to do for us to make sure our last experience that night was not a let down. I hope, and believe, you will have a wonderful experience whether you are the first seating or the last.
