Who is the "super genius" who okayed this concept as an appropriate beverage container???? Let's drink our soda out of hand grenades! Whee! Clueless concept in so many ways!

This reminds me of a while back--shortly after 9/11--there was a game retailer convention in Vegas and one of the game developers was stupid enough to give out promotional lifelike hand grenades, which some people stupidly put in their carry-on luggage and tried to get on a plane. Needless to say...

Disney is all about being politically correct until it comes down to some profitable merchandise.

I'm reminded of them selling "We Wants the Redhead" t shirts for months after they changed the auction scene. Really no excuse, if the scene is that offensive, why sell merchandise that references the most offensive aspects of the scene? Even after the whole pr push about changing it?

I can't believe this made it through however many layers of management for approval. I mean, this isn't a new concept. Snow globes became a big issue when limits on liquids were first introduced. They put signs on the shelves in stores reminding guests that over a certain size they weren't allowed on planes. Now the selection is far more limited.

I can't access the article, but surely they don't have a problem if the bottle is empty?

Yes, it looks like a Grenade Full or empty. You need to ship it. But then again, it might get delayed if checked.....

Same with Toy Guns, can't take them on a plane, also plastic swords......

To be honest though, its not Disney's job to make sure your Coke bottle can be taken on a plane no matter what shape.

But I agree that they should have seen it coming, and maybe not chosen such a grenade looking design.

I wonder if just taking the cap off would work to get past the scanners. At that point it looks just like an Christmas ornament.

Well, the TSA once confiscated a sealed bottle of non alcoholic cider from my checked suitcase, so who can really say what's acceptable?

I'm sure it's a matter of mindset, but I would not have placed those bottles as resembling explosives had I not heard about it.

Honestly, this whole thing is dumb on TSA's part. Reading their comments, they are saying they don't care if the cap is on or off, it can still get pulled because of the shape. "nothing resembling a weapon, artificial or imaginary or otherwise"

Lord help us if they find that package of Christmas ornaments that someone is taking. Or a package of baseballs.

And this is at the same time that they then say lightsabers and droids from the droid factory are ok. Umm, wait, light sabers are less of a weapon than a bottle of coke?

Numerous people are saying they didn't have an issue with them in their checked luggage and arrived home fine. The bigger issue I would think would be carry on, and that should be if it's still sealed up because of the liquid. But..., well, y'know.

It would possibly have 2 issues- whether or not they were convinced it wasn't alcholic, or more than likely it was more than 3oz of fluid, which isn't allowed in any case.

It's why I carry an empty bottle with me when I fly, then fill it with water after going through security.

I better go get the Diet Coke one I’m missing before they stop selling them. I just can’t get myself to buy a Diet Coke. It’s the principle.

I bring tons of cans, bottles, and larger bottles of alcohol in my checked bags all the time. Never had an issue.

Now then, regarding this issue about the immersively themed soda bottles...

Bwahahahahahhahaaaaaa!
