News Tron coaster coming to the Magic Kingdom

People don’t judge an attraction based on its statistics. It’s all about the experience. And as much as it creates kinetics, the launch (because of its clear view out) and that first block of track outside are disconnected from the setup and conceit of the attraction. That’s all times and experience that is something different and distinct. Even once inside, what’s there and isn’t that much. The whole thing never really delivers on being the fast, right race, especially if you’ve seen either movie.

Thoughts: Thunder is over three minutes, and it all counts thanks to the intricate theming that makes the experience as much a dark ride as a coaster.

There isn’t much disagreement that Dwarves is much too short. Tron is this the second in a pattern of short, underwhelming MK coasters.

Space IS short (and I don’t think it’s one of WDWs absolute top-tier classics) but it had a unique gimmick - being in the dark with lighting effects. Disney has gone back to that well over… and over… and over again. Tron is their fourth iteration of a not-particularly-versatile ride type - the second to open in a single year! Of course it’s going to face much more extensive scrutiny. It also doesn’t help that almost every aspect of Space, from the exterior structure to the queue to the ride experience, is superior to Tron.

The “cool launch” is more about looking neat from outside then it is about enhancing the ride experience - it’s a launch into brakes. It’s emblematic of the whole ride - something that looks cool from very specific angles but has no real substance.

All that energy and then drain it off for nothing.

I enjoyed Tron, though it helped being in the front seat. That first launch to the outdoors was great.. good speed. It really bothered me that you were stopped right upon entering the building.. it felt like a waste. Everything after the outdoor section I felt would probably be a better experience towards the back of the train as I dislike going down the start of a hill slowly. Next ride will definitely be in the back.

I was worried that the ride was going to be "too short" based on what I'd been reading, and while it WAS short, it wasn't as short as I expected given the feedback I had seen. As for the visual experience indoors... eh.. it was neat seeing the other train at the beginning, but after that, it felt about as intriguing as GotG. What I mean is, its an "ok" attempt, but doesn't really enhance things THAT much.
I did like the reveal in the pre-locker room. Short, sweet and unexpected. No long pre-shows = a win for me.

I rode Saturday and really enjoyed it, but I found the seat a little uncomfortable. I worked out Saturday morning and ran a few miles so I was a bit sore, but I'm in good shape and a very small person (5'6 150lbs) so I wondered if maybe I tensed up too much instead of elevating my body a little more or I'm just getting old. I'll definitely ride again and I didn't feel uncomfortable post ride but yeah Id have to ride multiple times to get a better feel of what the best position is.
