Torn between resorts! First timer

I absolutely loved staying at the Wilderness Lodge. The view of the castle, the yummy food and fun atmosphere at the Whispering Canyon Cafe and enjoying a leisurely boat ride over to Magic Kingdom made it a wonderful place to stay. If you can't find a room with a discount now, then you can always book & then see if you can switch to a discounted room when they come out. I'm sure you will have a magical trip!

Wilderness Lodge, of course. Where are you getting the same price at WL as Riverside, though? It's usually at least $100 more per night. Though I would argue it's worth it. The boat ride to the MK would be wonderful w/ kids the age of yours'.

If it was booked this year under 2015 spring deal it would only be a few $100 difference.
When I looked I could get a standard room at WL for $3680 and POR $3420, but of course we won't be able to book under that rate :(

There are often deals in the Spring and October so you should take a look at what dates had deals in the past. That said, the room discounts are usually limited to a certain number of rooms at certain resorts (and often only on some types of rooms at the applicable resorts). In addition, the best rooms offered in the discounts often go very quickly after the discount is announced.

You didn't ask, but it terms of time of year ... I prefer October over April. I love Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and the Epcot Food and Wine Festival.

The only thing holding us back in October is it's football season and we go to a lot of games. So it'd be A LOT of traveling (and money) all at a busy time of year.
However, I'd really prefer fall!

Can you see the fireworks at the castle from WL?! That was one thing I really had hoped to do on arrival day to set the tone of our vacation, but didn't know if I wanted to use a ticket for MK if our flight got in late!

Yes!! That was another thought I had, going to CM and then going to Poly beach and watching the fireworks :)
I want the first night to just be super magical and memorable for the kids

Since the construction of the bungalows, there isn't much beach left at the Poly for fireworks viewing. If you will be dining at Chef Mickey's, get a later ADR so that you can watch the fireworks from the outdoor balcony on the 4th floor. The music is piped in and the fireworks are super close!

Awesome! Thank you!

If all prices are the same on those 3 then WL all day everyday! Just put it this way if it was the same price would you want to stay in a deluxe, moderate, or value resort? Obviously you would choose the deluxe, right? WL (Deluxe) POR (Moderate) AoA (Value)

I had heard that it was a little outdated, and I thought the kids might like AOA better, with the themed rooms.
Of course, I would rather stay in the deluxe ;) but I was thinking of the family as a whole.

Wilderness Lodge. Hands down. Better pool. Boat ride to MK is amazing. Great food on site. Disney does offer spring discounts but for AOA and POR you have to book them pretty much the day they drop or the offers for those hotels book up & you are left with full price. I think the spring offer came out in early January this year, post #17 has a great link as to when they have dropped historically in the past.

We're going to book soon and just keep an eye out for discounts that we can hopefully apply. :)
I think we're 100% sold on WL. Now I'm getting super excited!

With the spring deal I found the standard view room to be within a few hundred of a suite at AOA and a basic room at PO. Maybe the AOA suite was not eligible for a discount? I'm not sure?
We're also from Louisisna, and I don't think we or the kids would find the port Orleans resorts as interesting as others might.
We're gonna do WL for sure ! :)

WL is the most attractive resort, in my opinion. When I stayed there I just sat in the massive lobby and inhaled the lovely wood smoke :) Be sure to get breakfast at Whispering Canyon! It's a hoot.
