What are your Top Ten Theme Parks in the world? I haven't been to any international ones myself, so I can't include any of those on my list. However it's still my goal to visit the two Disney parks in Paris and the two in Tokyo (DisneySea looks like it is incredibly beautiful). Anyway, here's my list:

1. Epcot
2. Islands of Adventure
3. Disney/MGM Studios
4. Universal Studios Orlando
5. Disney's Animal Kingdom
6. Magic Kingdom
7. Disneyland
8. Cedar Point
9. King's Island
10. Six Flags Magic Mountain

The title for this thread reminds me of a question I saw on a recent rerun of the show Greed on the Game Show Network. The question was: Which state hosts 6 of the Top 10 U.S. amusement parks in terms of attendance? The answer, of course, was Florida (which the players missed, going with California). They never said what the six were. My guess would be the 4 Disney parks, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens Tampa. Anybody know the average attendance of each park?

My personal top 10 parks:
1. WDW Magic Kingdom
2. DL Magic Kingdom
3. Disney-MGM Studios
4. Epcot
5. Universal Studios
6. Animal Kingdom
7. Six Flags Great America
8. Knott's Berry Farm
9. Santa's Village
10. Comiskey Park :animwink:

I had no idea AK got so many people, is the problem the time that the guests stay? Do you have anything on average time spent at parks for the ones above?

Oh, I guess I should go ahead and list my top ten now too:

1. Magic Kingdom
2. Islands of Adventure
3. EPCOT
4. Animal Kingdom
5. Universal Studios
6. Busch Gardens Williamsburg
7. Cedar Point
8. SeaWorld
9. Busch Gardens Tampa
10. Disney Studios

On different days I may move those around a few spots. The top four are definite, if Animal Kingdom keeps adding it may move up to #2 someday.

Yep. For the most part, AK's attendance is made up of park hoppers who go in, see what few attractions they have, and then leave after a few hours, spending hardly any money with them in the process. That wreaks havoc on the park's revenues. They are also worried that attendance will fall off of the face of the earth soon at AK (and rightfully so, it is already happening) like it has for DCA and Epcot.

>>>Do you have anything on average time spent at parks for the ones above?<<<

Nope, other than the fact that AK's average guest time is tragically low (from disscussions with friends and reading various releases by Disney, I estimate that it is less than 5 hours).

I don't want to get too far off topic, but you bring up another good point about hoppers. I wonder how many people go to each park and buy single day tickets on average (hence, they would spend the whole day at that one park)? It seems that these people would be a much better basis for popularity of a park, because anyone with hoppers and a few days vacation can easily slip in and out of parks they feel do not deem worthy of a full day such as AK (myself included, I usually go to EPCOT for the rest of the day, again adding to the hopper lack of attendence theory).

On another tangent (so sorry), I imagine EPCOT stills makes a lot of revenue with all the great restaurants, tours, and shops even if attendence is down. People may only go to EPCOT to eat at a nice restaurant or swim in the Living Seas where people may only go to AK to ride the Safari ride or see FotLK.

OK, I haven't been to a lot of these theme parks, but I'll list the top ten I have been to, which aren't really the top ten, especially those at the bottom. And I know i'm going to get flamed for my number 1 choice.
1. MK @ DL
2. MK @ WDW
3. Disney/MGM Studios
4. Epcot
5. AK
6. Universal Studios FL
7. Universal Studios Hollywood
8. Six Flags Great Adventure
9. Hershey Park
10. Dorney Park/Wild Water Kingdom

Yes I know it's blasphemy to put MK @ DL number 1, but you have to realize that it has the Indiana Jones ride, which IMHO, is the best Disney ride at present time, plus the Space Mountain is superior to the WDW one and it has the Alice in Wonderland ride. Granted it doesnt have the Country Bears anymore nor does it have most of WDW's Tomorrowland, but it's just that it had a lot of good E-ticket rides in one park, instead of spreading them out like in WDW.

As you can also see that I have not been to IoA, SeaWorld, or Disney's CA so I can't vote, though I'm pretty sure IoA would be a top 5 at least since I love coasters, but it would never beat out the two MKs.
