....the other Disney message board...the biggest one that I won't mention the name of here, but if you take the name disney and remove the second half, you're on the right track.

I know they used to have heated debates about politics and religion and I understand taking those topics off the boards, but other policies drive me nuts.

First, I received a warning for posting THIS website once, but it came up all asterisks, so I thought there was something wrong, so I typed it with spaces....they said I was trying to get around the filter. Apparently they seem to ban any mention of other disney message boards which is really childish. Fine, whatever, I pleaded my case as being a stupid thing, but whatever.

Now, I received another warning for having blog links, like the ones below in my signature. I have ZERO advertising on those links, and don't receive a dime for them, but now after about a year or so of having them in my signature, I'm suddenly in VIOLATION of their "advertising" policy because I didn't put a link to their precious website on my blogs.

I've frequented many message boards over the years for many different interests, but never seen one as badly run as that one, yet its the most popular for Disney sites.

The only reason I ever go there is occassionally I do see some interesting stuff I don't find elsewhere.

Anyway, just venting. I'm guessing others might have their own stories about that place.

They're strict about any "hint" of other forums over there because other forums are the competition. Sorta like here. Nobody is going to smite you for it here but if you're around long enough you'll catch onto the fact that it's simply bad form to drum-up the competition. Steve has one heckuva site going on here and I personally feel like I should honor that in any way I can. Definitely this place is way more laid back (although some of the exchanges on the News & Rumors can be nearly as laden with snarkiness as the site-that-shall-not-be-named). I make no bones about it anywhere at all that THIS is my "home" site. IMO, overall, the panties are too tightly bunched up over where you're talking about. LOL!

I had a pretty bad experience personally with another mousy-Ears site that All (well a bunch) of fans really seem to dig. Tried to be helpful and was invited to seek my info elsewhere. Told myself that day that bunch could kiss my..well..you know..and I've not been back. If I can't find the info I need elsewhere then I don't need it. Period. That's been over a year ago. Haven't yet needed anything I couldn't find here or in other realms.

There are other Disney fan forums?!?!?!?

;)

I've been here for years. It was the first site I found when starting to research WDW. Liked it. Although I've very occasionally visited other sites, I get the info I need here and the friends I've made are amazing.

I haven't been to the "other" site in quite a while I found myself being very uncomfortable with the exchanges, however it is an amazing site with great information, but I am way more laid back and found this site and it is now my home site.

I agree. The other site seems very uptight and the people here are MUCH more friendly!

I for one have become quite fond of this place. I'm still in the figure out who is who phase but certainly feel very comfy here, much more so than the other places I have ventured to. Thanks Steve!

I was banned from there (several times) because I posted on a site they don't like.

If there was such a thing as a corrupt message board, that would be it. The Mods there are bias and unfair, protect certain posters and ban others. They also talk about the posters behind their backs.

I feel like I should use my trolling talents on the other forums. But that's probably a bad idea. I prefer to just imagine they don't exist.
