I saw that too! I'm buying this game, day one! I like that it's entirely conscious of Mickey's history, and his darker side. This game is going to be great.

I'm an avid gamer and I'm very excited for this! I'm not sure it will be quite as good as the Kingdom Hearts series but they are incorporating some of the parks into Epic Mickey which I am excited for. If you watch the video from E3, you can plainly see Adventureland and the Swiss Family Robinson treehouse :)

Notice how Spector dodged the question when asked about the "darker elements" of the game, which since have been removed.
Spector claims that the changes were not the result of a focus test, which is a clever way of saying the order came down from Disney management.
I was interested in this game, but not anymore. The whole project seems compromised.

I am a little bit disappointed with the removal of the Scrapper Mickey. The whole playstyle matters thing sounded really interesting, and they ruined it. Now, I don't mind the world being toned down from the concept art, but I think making it a bit darker would improve the game. I'll still be buying it, but I'm not anticipating it as much as I was when the first descriptions of the game started coming out.

Pretty sure. I don't see how either of those links you provided show how the "personality changing" mechanic hasn't been dropped.

It's still around, just no physical changes beyond Mickey smudging a little. Apparently Spector didn't like the concept of "costume changes" and when someone came up with the Guardian system that would come in depending on your material usage, he thought it was the better way to go.
