Greetings all from the Geek Labs

This is gonna be my last post for alittle while till the storm blows over.

Based on information from the National Weather Service and emergency preparedness officials, Walt Disney World theme parks and water parks have adjusted operating hours as follows:

Magic Kingdom: 8am - 1pm

Epcot: 8am - 1pm

Disney-MGM Studios 8 am - 1 pm

Blizzard Beach 9 am - 1 pm

Disney's Wide World of Sports will have limited operation, weather permitting. Disney golf courses will have limited operations.

We will NOT be operating the following locations:

Animal Kingdom

Typhoon Lagoon

Downtown Disney (all areas, including DisneyQuest and Cirque du Soleil)

Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show

Hoop-Dee-Doo Dinner Show

E-Ride Nights and Grand Gathering Experiences have been cancelled for tonight.

I am surprised the golf courses will have limited operation. I can't imagine what it would be like to drive a ball in hurricane winds. It will probably land in Daytona.

Why would they open just one of the water parks? Wouldn't make sense to close both?

Probably two reasons

The first being to limit guest complaints the Second being to help with the guest attendance.

Yep, I have a feeling they are trying everything they can to give the guest something to do for as long as possible. Plus, there are a lot of kids that love swimming and this way at least they can have some normalcy prior to the storm.

Also, I found the site with the Epcot webcam. http://www.instacam.com/showcam.asp?id=LKBNV&size=S

As a mother with a son that works at Blizzard Beach I would have loved to seen it closed for the day! I feel for all the college program mothers who are probably like me, watching the weather channel every minute. I know that Disney will watch out for the kids, but since we live in an area that has never seen a hurricane it will be a new experience.

The last so-called tropical storm that we got up in RI and Mass was a few years ago. They canceled school for the next day but in turned up that the storm was just a little wind and rain and the canceled school day was sunny.

Leslie, don't fret. I'm sure your's and other parents' children are going to be just fine. Disney will take care of their own. And why do I have this image suddenly of all the CP kids running around the housing partying because they have the day off? Hmmm......

I find it frighteningly odd that all this is happening on Friday the 13th. Not sure how many of you guys are superstitious though. :(

Well, I guess the parks are closed now (1:35 p.m., EDT). Anyone know how things have gone so far today around the property.

I still would like to know how the boats are secured in preparation for such an event as this.

What would you do today?

So, at 1:00pm you have to leave the parks. Are the resort pools still open? Is Universal and Seaworld shut? What about various restaurants in Downtown Disney, McDonalds etc and the Boardwalk?
