Theme elements removed from SGE roof in TL

The "before" photo is a very old promo photo from Disney, dating back to when Tomorrowland was first made over in the mid-90's. (It doesn't even look like Alien Encounter is fully done yet) So their removal might not be anything recent.

(Just a wild guess, since they face due south, if those panels were any kind of reflective surface for lights shining upward, they may have found that they also reflected the sun in directions they weren't anticipating)

Surely they would have realized that before now.

Besides...it's nothing that a giant pair of sunglasses couldn't have fixed.

I can attest that they were there as recently as January 16th. Not sure when they were removed, but I do hope it's only temporary. I've always loved the way they lit up at night.

Gotcha. I tried going back to my trip photos from November but I didn't take any pics in that area.

There are people who think that "everything is great" at WDW?? I'd be interested in knowing what drugs there taking to live in that fantasy

Im pretty sure they are just being refurbished because they were there a week or 2 ago and they are purposely their to hide the vents that are visible in the second recent picture. You guys can calm down. lol

I noticed that the Tomorrowland Intergalactic pay phone was gone, during my January trip. I would assume that is being refurbished as well like the Robo-Newz guy was recently?
