Day 4 - Birthday day!

The day started out with some Eggslut! What is this incredible concoction of a coddled egg with mash potatoes and crustini's?!?! Heaven, that's what! We each had one, and then split a sausage and egg sandwich. Expensive for what it is, yup, would I eat it again.. yup... (side note: I made my own version of this week, it wasn't quite as good... but I think it was great for my first attempt!)
After breakfast we walked over to the Bellagio, got my konami freeplay on, and turned $25 into $110... Thank you very much.
We completely forgot to check out the Conservatory! Slaps forehead.

Walked to Venetian and the Palazzo... Hubby had decent luck on Buffalo's at the Venetian, and I did good at the Palazzo. Stopped by to get some Gelato, and see the Love sign, in between the two Casino's. While we were in the area, we had free tickets from MyVegas for Madame Tussaud's wax museum.. so we checked that place out.... fun if you've never been. We even sprung for the marvel short... that was actually really good!

By this time, it was time for our daily nap.... we trekked back to Aria, and relaxed for a bit.

Dinner tonight was at Hell's kitchen... neither of us have ever had Beef Wellington before... and both wanted it try it. So we both had the prix fix menu, Plus we started out sharing the Lobster Risotto. 1st course, Scallops, with a corn puree... 2nd course Beef Wellington, and 3rd course .. the Sticky Toffee Pudding of course! Hubby had the Smoke on the Blvd drink... and I had a Watermelon Agua Fresca...
After dinner we gambled at Ceasars for a bit... but neither of us had very much luck there.

Back to Aria for a few spins... and the old timers were off to bed!

A good 50th Bday... not anything crazy... no getting plastered, but I spent it just where I wanted to spend it, in Vegas!!!

Day 5 - 50th Birthday Extravaganza trip -
After reading several blogs, etc. I wasn't sure how busy the pools would be at Aria. So I decided to rent a day bed for us.. You had to check in between 9a-11a. We had a lazy morning, but I got up and went down to check in. I was kind of surprised at how small the pool was at Aria. And even though it was small, it turns out you didn't need to get a day bed, there were plenty of chairs, but we decided to keep our reservation and hang in comfort... I mean, this was a birthday extravaganza trip, right?

This trip we had a $40 food credit per day, so we decided to go to Salt & Ivy for breakfast. We weren't expecting much, but it actually was really good. Scott had some banana pancakes... (hmm he gets those alot) and I got mexican nachos (aka Chilaquiles) We enjoyed breakfast alot! The portions were big and neither of us could finish.

After breakfast we went ahead and and went to the pool. We only stayed a few hours, but it was so enjoyable!
While hubby rested, I was hungry, so I wandered over to the Cosmo to find secret pizza. I tried a white slice and a meatball slice. SO GOOD!

The rest of the days adventure was Casino hopping! We drove down the Paris, and had a great time there... I won a small jackpot there... and played some slots I hadn't seen at other places. I was getting tired of the same old slots every place! We made our way over to Bally's and I didn't do very well there. I don't think hubby did either.

We had dinner reservations at Battista's hole in the wall. So... unknowingly, we made our way back, and drove to Battista's, only to realize, we could have walked out the side door of Bally's and been there.... OOPS! I didn't know! LOL..
Dinner there was ok... a once and done... I really think it's over extended it's welcome and it's probably time to close up shop.
After dinner we went to Treasure Island... I just could not get a hit there for anything. Hubby was doing ok though. Next we walked over to the Mirage, it was pretty quiet there, but I found a nice machine that came up 777 for me! I was playing max bet, so I was happy but disappointed that this was not the top prize.... still... a good $120 bucks... is better than a kick in the pants!
Cashed out... walked back to the car... and called it a night... I think this was one of the latest nights we stayed out..if was after 12 when we got back to the room.

Looks like you had a great birthday and managed a few wins - well done.
like you hitting 3 7’s I would have thought that is a jackpot!

And yes I did look at all the pictures And they bought back happy memories of our November 2019 trip (our last holiday abroad due to Covid!)
I still crack up when I see pictures of madam Taussauds (the hangover scene) - I went up to that open door and jumped out of my skin when the tiger roared. Chris and my brother and his wife have never let me live it down.

Missing the conservatory in the bellagio - what a shame it’s normally fun to see what they come up with but that’s a great excuse to go back (I know it would be something different by then but we’ll it’s a reason to go back)

I’m curious do you wear masks in the casinos and how about sanitising? From your comments it looks like most casinos are open - are they?

Most casinos are open. Cromwell is still closed due to they are filming a show called love island there. Some hotels are only open Thursday-Sunday right now. Yes you have to wear your masks in the casinos, even between sips of your drink or a puff on a cigarette. I did see lots of cleaning going on. There was hand sanitizer and free masks everywhere. MGM hotels had sinks to wash your hands right there on the casino floor.

Day 6 of 50th Birthday Extravaganza Trip report -

Thursday we had planned to go to the Valley of Fire... but first we needed breakfast... it was a bonus Eggslut day!
The ride to the Valley of Fire was painless, but I made the mistake of not going back the way I came, and the trip doubled in length on the way back... but it was beautiful! We saw some... bighorn sheep? in the parking lot of the vistors center. I tried to get a good picture, but they were running too fast.

When we got back, hubby napped and I went to the pool...it was beautiful and felt so refreshing. Still not TOO many during the week in the Aria pool.

For dinner we had reservations at Oscars. I had the rib cap, and hubby had the Seabass. Honestly... it was just ok. I was expecting more. But we had a nice view of Fremont at the window.

We wandered down fremont for a bit, and played a bit at the golden nugget. Downtown so far hasn't really been our scene. Hubby liked the strip more.

Day 7 - 50th Bday extravaganza trip

The day before I had checked with the front desk... no extended checkout available, but I could pay for a half day and have the room until 6pm. Since our flight was at 11pm, that definitely sounded like a plan to me, so we took that deal.

Our last day... we started out at Blueberry Hill for some tasty breakfast... highly recommend!
While we were there I was scrolling thru instagram, and found out one of my knitting friends (who lives in a different state than I do) was also in Vegas... so I texted her to find out.... wazssssup!? So we made some plans to meet up after breakfast. Hubby still wanted to see the Marvel station gift shop at TI, which just happened to be where my friend was staying. So I got to meet up with a real life friend while there... how fun is that?

Played a bit at TI... did ok, but I don't seem to do great there. Went back to the Aria and napped, checked out and went to MGM, no luck there at all, and it seems packed with riff raff. Decided to go check out the Wynn before we left, and that was the first Friday they had security and bag check. We didn't have much luck there either.. but it was fun to look around. Got a bite to eat in there cafe before heading to the airport.

Dropping off the car at Enterprise was super easy, and we had just the right amount of time in the airport.
We had such a great trip, and decided to book another trip for February. This time we are going on the cheap. Staying at NYNY, and hoping to make minimal plans... maybe we might get to see a show this time!

The END

I should add to this that we didn't spend even half the money I had planned for my Birthday Extravaganza, so I already have us booked for another Las Vegas Trip in February. I thought it would be a good time to get out of here when we are super tired of the snow!

When you get tired of snow, you can send it here, please. Hopefully I will have my drivers license by then (my road test is on Dec. 31st) and I won't have to have lessons in the snow. I know how to drive in snow....did it for years. But having an instructor 2nd guessing everything I do is not fun...so by that time, I won't have to submit to someone else's judgment and I'll be happy to have some snow!
