Trip Report The well deserved Boo To Us Trip 2013.....

Day One: We have arrived. Bring on the MyMagic+!
Park: Down Town Disney
FP+: None
Meals:
Lunch - T-Rex
Dinner: Bodies All American

The Good: MyMagic+ worked very well all day. No glitches to be found. Great meal at T-Rex.

The Bad: The people. I swear, I have never seen more antagonistic "ME!" people in all my life. People that walk right at you daring you to not move. I didn't and they were (most of the time) slammed into and knocked back.

We typically start out our trips with a DTD only day and this trip was no different. We arrived at the resort at 10:30 AM and picked up our room keys and documents. We already had our magic bands so off to DTD we went. After navigating the frustrating and mind-numbing parking lot situation we made our first stop, T-Rex for lunch.

We made our way to every single shop in DTD looking for the things that could put out the fires in our pockets (rather, on the MagicBands). Oddly enough, I thought that we would all fall victim to the MagicBand add-ons, but we resisted temptation. Not a single Coverband or Bandit was bought.

Dinner at Bodies All American. Not the greatest place, but it'll do in a pinch.

After DTD it was back to the room to unpack, and swim for a while. I also had to decorate our room’s window. I ended up forgetting several bits of decorations at home so we ended up with a half dressed window.

I remember a discussion here in the forums about the blue cards used to signify to the Mousekeeper that the money left was for a tip. A few of the other posters stated that these cards are gone, but there was one in our room.

I agree with your assessment in "the bad" part of your day at DTD. This, unfortunately will continue as you visit the parks...people so self absorbed, between their cell phones and racing to the next attraction that they crash right into you. I even saw many people using i-Pads for pictures and videos. They were really dangerous....walking with an i-Pad obscuring their vision. Also strollers and scooters everywhere.....and they too will roll right into you if you are not careful. If everyone would just slow down a bit, the visit would be more enjoyable for everyone. Anyway....keep that trip report coming.....I love visiting Disney through others even though I just returned from a trip a month ago. :cat:

Day Two: Why does it take so long to get to my favorite place?
Park: Magic Kingdom
FP+: Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, BTMRR
Meals:
Breakfast - Chef Mickey's
Lunch - Casey's Corner
Dinner: Cosmic Ray's

The Good: Chef Mickey's. The staff here is wonderful. The food is okay, but the atmosphere is awesome!

The Bad: Slamming my fingers in the rental car door.

Yes. You read that right. Our day started off with me doing something very stupid. I was not yet used to the rental car since it is smaller than my personal vehicle. I always grab the top of the door to pull it shut, but as we were running late for our 7AM ADR, and I was not yet used to the car I misjudged it and literally slammed the door on my fingers at the top. I popped the door open and my fingers all hurt like h**l. However, my middle finger was the worst. It felt broken, but I could still move it. Turns out that the knuckle just got bruised. My wife, being the smarta** she is says "Well great. Now your middle finger is damaged. How are you going to be able to drive like you normally do?" (Think about it....) I love her. :cautious:

So, we made it to Chef Mickey's and the server asked about my hand, because I hit it on the table and nearly cussed. She brought me a bag of ice for my hand and a cupcake for our anniversary.

After breakfast it was off to the Magic Kingdom. By the way... anyone attempting to sneak into the Contemporary to park for MK for the day is going to be really surprised now. They scan your card/band when you go in to make sure you are there legitimately now. At least they did with us and the security guard stated that it will happen with everyone now. We got to MK just as the opening ceremonies were ending and happened to walk right in with the rest of the crowd there. We made our way to the left and into Adventureland and were able to ride Jungle Cruise on its first run of the day. I have to say that the jokes in the past have become rather stale and predictable, but this cruise captain was hilarious!! New jokes and she delivered them perfect!

Day two continued.....

After the JC we went to PotC, HM, IaSW, BTMRR, and The Little Mermaid with zero, yes zero, wait. It was a literal "walk-on" for every ride. We ended up riding BTMRR 3 times in a row before the line got to 15 minutes and we stopped. The parks were far emptier in the mornings than they were on our last trip. I had our FP+ set up for the three mountains in the afternoon so we headed over to Buzz Lightyear. After Buzz it was time to eat lunch at Casey's Corner. After lunch we commenced the shopping portion of the day. I was very proud of my son, who in the past would spend all of his daily money within the first two hours. This trip he spent the first 4 days only using $25 of his allotted $125 so that on day 5 he ended up with $525 that he used to buy a Disney Infinity set, two packs of characters for it, and three of the RideMakerz cars in DTD.

(Our idea of an empty park. 9:45AM on 10/12/13)

Day two continued .....

After we shopped for a little while and my wife and I put a sizable dent in our wallets, we went for dinner at Cosmic Ray's. This happens to be one of our favorite places for QS in MK. After dinner we meandered around taking in the sights of MK, including a shut down Space Mountain with full lights on during the Peoplemover ride, until our feet were sore and we needed sleep. We headed back to the room, but ended up going swimming at the pool. Our room was so far from the main building at the Movies that we almost didn't bother with swimming. However, as we walked out of the room I noticed that the All Star Music main building was literally right next to us so we went there for everything, including swimming.

Day Three:
Park: Animal Kingdom / Fantasia Gardens
FP+: Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safaris, Kali River Rapids
Meals:Lunch - Flame Tree BBQ
Dinner: All Stars Movies Food Court

The Good: Finally getting drenched on Kali.

The Bad: Animal Kingdom is still only a half-day park.

This day started out better than day two. No one slammed a hand in a car door. We got loaded into the car and set out for our least favorite park, but still have to go to, Animal Kingdom. Maybe if this park had more to offer, and stayed open later than 5pm in October then we'd stay longer. Anyhoo... moving on. We arrived at the park before opening and waited in the line for park entry. Thankfully they do not do the opening ceremonies here any longer and we were able to move on past Discovery Island. Since we had FP+ for EE, Kali, and Kilimanjaro we went straight for Dinosaur. However, it turned out that the ride had a malfunctioning operator console and they delayed opening the ride until it was fixed, at 9:25. We knew that we'd kill the park in less than 5 hours so we just waited. Once on Dinosaur it became apparent that they need to update this attraction. My son, 10 years old, had no idea that the primary dinosaur used in the ride (the one we are supposed to be retrieving) was from a Disney movie. Update the ride Disney. o_O After Dinosaur we went to EE and rode the ride with our FP+, exited the ride and since it was only a 15 minute wait on the board we decided to ride it again.

Then it was back to Dinoland to ride my least favorite ride in AK, Primeval Whirl. I wish this ride did not beat the crap outta me every time I ride it. Oh well. At least my son had a blast. :D

I really miss the fire effect on Kali. :( I had to put the camera away before we went down the hill so I didn't ruin it. This is the first time I got truly soaked to the bone after this ride. I usually get a little sprinkling and my wife gets the lion share of water. Not this time. I looked like I fell in a pool when I got off the ride.

After Animal Kingdom we decided to go play some mini-golf and we went to the one mini-golf spot that we haven't gone to before, Fantasia Gardens. It was okay, but I honestly prefer Winter-Summerland.

DSC07077_resize.JPG
DSC07086_resize.JPG

After mini-golf we went to an outlet shop (close to DTD). I just about gave up trying to find a parking spot. I finally found one between two huge SUV's parked too close to the lines, but I took it anyway. After squeezing out of the car we went shopping. When we left, I thought that we'd never get back to the resort. The traffic out of the outlet was a nightmare. Then I found out why once we go to the end of the traffic. A police officer decided to pull duty as a traffic cop. STUPID. If he had just stayed in his car and went elsewhere the traffic would have moved along smoothly. Instead, he held up the main flow of traffic to allow a car or two at a time out of a smaller side road, then wait...... wait....... okay, another couple of cars from the side road. Wait...... wait....... and now he would let 5 of us through and then stop the 6th car to let the very few cars coming out of a side road out. It was insane. Anyway, we got back to the resort, went to the food court, ate dinner, and went swimming before turning in.
