Dark Fantasyland

5b5f5eb782f423a14ae9025d256098e6b4aa07d7

If one dares to follow the path in Fantasyland's Enchanted Forest deeper into the woods, soon they'll find twisted dead trees and a settled fog... do those trees have eyes? Is that raven following you? Before you know it, you've found yourself in the evil mirror of Fantasyland... Dark Fantasyland. (Could probably use a better name. Not Villainsland though, as you'll see, it's home to some heroes too!)

Rides

  • Night on Bald Mountain (Thrill Ride)
    • This E-Ticket rollercoaster is inside of one of two weenies for Dark Fantasyland, Bald Mountain. Guests travel in ghoulish coaster cars as they take an intense whirl around Audio Animatronics of Chernabog and his many underlings, set to the score from Fantasia. The unload station is the Ava Maria scene from Fantasia.
  • Snow White's Scary Adventures (Dark Ride)
    • The classic dark ride returns, with the scares turned up to an 11. Join Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs as they try to escape the Evil Queen!
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas (Dark Ride)
    • For those who are less into thrills and chills, this dark ride is a family-friendly journey through the story of the film. Using a hybrid ride system, guests far travel through Halloween Town on the ground before taking to the sky on Christmas Eve, as their vehicle goes from grounded to hanging!
  • Ursula's Shipwreck Scrambler (Flat Ride)
    • The idea for an Ursula spinner is nearly as old as the concept of a Villains Land itself, but this mixes things up by having it be a Scrambler-style spinner! Guests board wrecked ships as giant Ursula spins them around and around with her tentacles! Additionally, when the ride begins, the loading floor fills with water, allowing the ships to make waves and splash each other.
  • Walt Disney Railroad - Dark Fantasyland Scenes (Amusement Ride)
    • Not stopping in Dark Fantasyland, the train first enters a dark forest from Bear Country, with eyes peering from the darkness. Soon, you go into a tunnel, and after a moment you're suddenly peering down at a dragon! Once you emerge, however, you're safely in Fantasyland.

Attractions & Entertainment

  • Maleficent's Castle (Walk-Through)
    • Guests can explore the dark, dank halls of Maleficent's evil lair. From the throne room to the dungeon, everything from the film is here- even the goons!
  • Dragon's Lair (Walk-Through)
    • Underneath the castle lies a cave with a sleeping dragon Maleficent. Be careful not to wake her!
  • Fantasmic! (Stage Show)
    • Located in its own arena a decent walk back in the land, the iconic show is here. Imagine the original Disneyland version, but in the arena of WDW. (I debated putting this on Old Pirate's Island like in Disneyland to protect the rivers, but I feel having Pirates of the Caribbean on the island pretty much guarantees it won't be filled in with Cars.)

Dining

  • Maleficent's Villainous Table (Full Service & Character Dining)
    • An evil counterpart to Cinderella's Royal Table, guests can enjoy in delightfully devilish dishes while chatting it up with their favorite villains.
  • Gaston's Tavern (Quick Service)
    • Essentially the same as Magic Kingdom's, but offering draft beer.
  • Yzma's Potions (Snacks)
    • A stand selling various potions (themed beverages in novelty glasses) made by Yzma. They might not turn you into an animal, but they taste great!
  • Devious Delights (Snacks)
    • A candy store and bakery themed to the Evil Queen's potion chamber. The signature item sold are Candied Poison Apples (candied apples with a sour coating).

Shops

  • The Dragon's Hoard
    • Themed to a dragon's hoard, this gift shop is home to everything Villains and Nightmare Before Christmas.

Fantasmic being here is actually a really smart choice and I am in full support of it.

Thanks! I went back and forth on it for awhile like I noted, but since this is a hypothetical park I suppose I shouldn't worry about things being closed! Plus, as I'll soon elaborate, this park's island is likely the best possible version of it!

Mickey's ToonTown

unnamed-1-1.jpg

On the path between Fantasyland's Storybook Circus and Tomorrowland stands a tunnel that one may recognize from Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and one the other side is the home of Mickey Mouse and his friends! The land itself is shaped like a giant Mickey head, with one ear home to the homes of Mickey and friends, while the other is home to a new dark ride. The "head" of Mickey is home to ToonTown Hall, restaurants, and more!

Rides

  • Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway (Dark Ride)
    • The modern classic returns, once again in El Capitoon Theater. The queue and ride are largely the same, with a few differences- in the tornado scene, the train cars actually spin around the tornado instead of just moving past it. The timing of scenes are also adjusted so every vehicle gets the entire story, rather than certain cars missing the beginning or end of a scene.
  • DuckTales: Clash of the Ages (Dark Ride)
    • When Huey, Dewey, and Louie accidentally send their Uncle Donald all across the space-time continuum, Scrooge McDuck asks guests to join him and the triplets (plus Webby) on an adventure to save Donald. Travel all other the world, from medieval Europe, to ancient Egypt, and even the dinosaur age! (I had originally planned a DuckTales ride for this project long before the recent reveal of the scrapped Roger Rabbit replacement, but after that, I decided to retool my attraction from a "best moments sizzle reel" style attraction to the plot of the scrapped one.)
  • Goofy's Barnstormer (Amusement Ride)
    • A family-friendly coaster that takes guests around the skies of ToonTown as they (mostly) avoid crashing into things. A modern interpretation of the Magic Kingdom classic, including the iconic crash into the barn, complete with smoke!
  • The Jolly Trolly (Amusement Ride)
    • This quirky little trolly bobs up and down and side to side as it putts around town, making three stops- one in each circle of ToonTown.
  • Walt Disney Railroad - ToonTown Station (Amusement Ride)
    • Entering ToonTown from Fantasyland, guests first enter a tunnel before emerging to a scene with tons of Toons singing "Smile, Darn Ya, Smile." The station itself is your classic ToonTown architecture, but also based on the station from Mr. Mouse Takes a Trip. Leaving ToonTown for Tomorrowland, guests pass by Gyro Gearloose's laboratory, also having a close view of Scrooge's Money Bin.

Attractions & Entertainment

  • The Sights of ToonTown (Walk-Through)
    • Much like the original, this ToonTown is full of interactive elements- even more than the original! From the dalmatian in the firehouse, to the fireworks factory, to the various doorbells in town, there's plenty of secret gags to find.
  • Mickey's House (Walk-Through / Meet & Greet)
    • The iconic cartoon house is here in full glory! Explore Mickey's house and into his backyard, where you'll find the mouse himself!
  • Minnie's House (Walk-Through / Meet & Greet)
    • Minnie's home his here as well. Guests can play with her appliances and explore her home before meeting Minnie.
  • Donald's Boat (Play Area)
    • The new Disneyland splash pad is recreated nearly 1:1, the only difference being that the triplets and Webby use their classic designs.
  • Goofy's How-To-Play Yard (Play Area)
    • Goofy's home and yard are a huge playscape for youngsters, being just about the same as the Disneyland one, this time with a bit more emphasis on Goofy's Garden, which is adjacent to his barn.

Dining

  • Cafe Daisy (Quick Service & Character Dining)
    • Inside this fabulous retro diner, guests can enjoy sandwiches, salads, and kid-friendly options while their favorite toons come say hello.
  • Pluto's Dog House (Snacks)
    • A walk-up stand selling hot dogs, corn dogs, and dog bone-shaped tater tots.
  • Clarabelle's Creamery (Snacks)
    • A walk-up stand selling scooped ice cream (both hard and soft serve), ice cream bars, cookie sandwiches, and sundaes!

Shops

  • The Gag Factory
    • The largest gift shop in ToonTown, this is an updated version of the Disneyland original, complete with the kinetic moving parts and lots of interactive elements. Sells Mickey & Friends merchandise.
  • EngineEar Souvenirs
    • Next to Runaway Railway, this shop sells lots of toys and more typical souvenirs like magnets, ornaments, and other trinkets.

With ToonTown written up, that marks the end of Disney IP lands, and into the territory of original Parks IP lands- although a few still have some pre-existing Disney characters in them.

To address the rabbit that isn't in the room: I'm sure many of you are wondering why Roger Rabbit isn't in ToonTown. The simple answer is that I thought a ride featuring Donald would serve the land better, as he's more popular; plus that gives Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy their own rides in one land. Roger would still be a walk-around character, and perhaps in later versions of this park we can find room for a Roger ride. Also a note: Maybe ToonTown needs a stage show or show of some sort? PhilarMagic? One of the million ToonTown era stage shows? Something, I think!

I don't know what forum to post this in, so I'll post it here. Do they have any plans to replace the Princess Fairytale Hall with a dark ride? I would kill for a modernized Toad attraction in MK.

Sleepy Hollow

il_570xN.6046596116_kmxw.jpg

Tucked along the park's rivers is Sleepy Hollow, a colonial-era village similar to Liberty Square, always set in the autumn. Trees are always warm hues, leaves always scatter the ground, and somehow there's a cold breeze blowing, even in summer. And with this eternal autumn is the fact that every day is Halloween here in Sleepy Hollow. The townsfolk talk about legends like the Headless Horseman, or the old, abandoned estate by the river, curious about what ghost stories may be true. On a lighter side, though, there's plenty of fun festivities for the whole family to be had! This land is essentially a Haunted Mansion and Headless Horseman combination land. At night, the land is blanketed in an ominous blue light as ghosts begin to roam the street to meet guests.

Rides

  • The Haunted Mansion (Dark Ride)
    • Resting on a hill alongside the riverbanks, this old New York-style estate has fallen into disrepair. The rusty and vine-covered gates are said to mysteriously blow open on Halloween, and the bravest of locals venture inside, hoping to see a ghost... or nine hundred and ninety-nine. This classic dark ride is here in its original state, with modern advancements to ensure the animatronics and effects work their best. And don't worry- the Hatbox Ghost is in his rightful place outside the attic. No unhappy haunts here!
  • The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (Dark Ride)
    • A more intense Mr. Toad's, guests ride in horse-drawn carriages as they dash through the woods, hoping to make it over the covered bridge before the Headless Horseman can get them.
  • The Liberty Belle Riverboat (Amusement Ride)
    • The iconic Magic Kingdom riverboat is here, offering a ride around Old Pirate's Island. Unlike the S.S. Columbia, the Riverboat does a full loop without stopping. (The S.S. Columbia has a cove harbor it pulls into to allow the Liberty Belle to pass.)

Attractions & Entertainment

  • A Hocus Pocus Spelltacular(Stage Show)
    • The Sanderson Sisters have returned after 300 years to the day and are ready to show off their wickedly whimsical witchery to all their adoring fans!
  • The Muppets Present... Great American Folktales! (Street Performance)
    • In the windows of Sleepy Hollow, one can find Kermit, Ms. Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, and Sam the Eagle as they tell various American folktales, from Paul Bunyan to Johnny Appleseed. Shows rotate throughout the day.
  • The Voices of Liberty (Street Performance)
    • Alternating with the Muppets, guests can enjoy classic folksong harmonies sung out on the streets of Sleepy Hollow.
  • Lafitte's Catacombs Tunnel (Walk-Through)
    • Near the Haunted Mansion, guests can find a graveyard to stroll through with a large mausoleum in the back. Entering the mausoleum takes guests underground through a winding catacomb tunnel before emerging on Old Pirate Island.

Dining

  • Master Gracey's Table (Full Service)
    • On the side of the Mansion, guests will find a secret entrance leading to an old dining hall, seemingly long abandoned... but they'll soon find that the hall is full of many ghosts. Some are happy waiters and waitresses; some are interesting characters roaming the hall; some are even animatronics or projections. Sort of like a Haunted Mansion version of the Adventurer's Club- there's many ghosts you could meet here! Food-wise, it's more colonial-style fine dining.
  • Sleepy Hollow Inn (Quick Service)
    • Connected to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, themed to the hall where the film's Halloween party was held, with extended seating themed to the fire-lit library from the film's opening. Serves standard American food and Halloween treats.
  • Columbia Harbor House (Quick Service)
    • On the riverbanks is this nautical seafood restaurant, serving fish & chips, fish sandwiches, and more.

Shops

  • Memento Mori
    • A Haunted Mansion gift shop themed to Madame Leota's old seance parlor from when she was alive. Also has other spooky Disney merch.
  • Ye Old Christmas Shoppe
    • Although it's Halloween night, that only means Christmas season is just a few hours away! This shop sells ornaments and decorations for various holidays in the holiday season.

Oh man that's a great idea! My sister is a huge fan of Hocus Pocus, I have no clue how I forgot about it. I suppose either a flat ride or maybe a stage show? A dark ride seems like an easy answer, but Sleepy Hollow is a small plot of land in this park. Swap Headless Horseman for Hocus Pocus to make the land more centralized on Haunted Mansion?

A stage show would probably be better in my opinion.

Yeah, definitely always a good idea to have live entertainment. Still need to go back and put something in Fantasyland, since every other land has some sort of live entertainment or stage show in it, with the exception of Discovery Bay which is packed as it is!

Gonna go back and add Hocus Pocus now, as well as solidify the replacements for Tomorrowland- "New Horizons" replacing Monsters Inc., and "Avengers: Otherworldly Invasion" replacing Spider-Man (though Spidey is a part of the new ride!).

your ultimate castle park looks amazing, but i do think a master plan of that park could be great just to know what the blueprint of your ultimate castle park looks like. maybe like similar to ideal buildout vision of his super-sized magic kingdom park. i think its called disneyland singapore that ideal buildout made.

I do have some concept sketches, the first being an MS Paint sketch that has a layout but doesn't really have proper sizing, and then a second attempt using a map of the Magic Kingdom for reference. They're both outdated, though- the first had a Critter Country, and both have a New Orleans Square and Liberty Square. I ended up scrapping New Orleans Square and Liberty Square to both help the original Disneyland and Magic Kingdom keep something unique (respectively), and also because I ended up moving this park's Splash Mountain back to the now rethemed Bear Country. There's a reason it's not Critter Country anymore though, and we'll get to that soon!
UltimateCastlePark.png
UltimateCastlePark_WIP.png

Left was drawn April 2024, right was done June 2024. The latest one is approximately the layout I have in mind for the final, with Frontierland moving down to take NOS's place, and Bear Country moving north of that.

And just for fun: My original idea for an "ultimate" park, dating back to April 2019:

ultimatedisneypark.png

My idea for this was having the five major lands (Fantasyland, Tomorrowland, Adventureland, Frontierland, and New Orleans Square) with intermediate lands between them that served as transitions. For example, Critter Country is country + talking animals, so it goes between Frontierland and Fantasyland.

I used this original 2019 idea as a basis for this project when I started it up again in April of this year, and as I cover the last few lands it'll be clear how much it's evolved- but in some ways also stayed true to the original idea.
