Ok - so Im from the UK and wondered if anyone else - not just from the UK thinks that the UK section of Epcot should have its own ride and if so what should it be about?

We have a pub, and a few shops and thats about it really - kinda boring :(

So what does anyone else think would make it more fun?

I'd love to see a wicked ride there for something - but dunno what

The UK Pavilion does indeed suck. But I'm also from the UK, so we're probably just bitter because all we got was a pub and a shop. Oh, and a stage. Don't forget the stage. :dazzle:

Does everyone else think the UK is really boring, or is it just us Brits?

Well I'm from the UK and I used to think our part of the World Showcase was a bit dull but now it's one of my favourites. I think the World Showcase players are great fun and I love the British Invasion. I could watch them all day. OK call me SAD, I go all the way to America and spend half my time watching a Beatles tribute band. I have noticed on some of the other forums that the UK is one of the most popular countries in the World Showcase.

How about a ride based on one of England's most famous fictional characters - Sherlock Holmes. The ride could follow them as they attempt to solve the mystery of -(what else)- The Hound of the Baskervilles. It could be a good creepy ride, what with a glowing "hound from hell" jumping out at you. Spooky atmosphere on the great moor. Lots of modern effects could be used. But they would have to leave out the last line in the book, "Come Watson: the needle!" (lol)

Thats a good one

hadnt thought of that!

recon it would be good - but i think they would "dumb" it down so as not to scare anyone - including 5 year olds :(

well I am an American but I LOVE the UK section at Epcot...maybe because its as close as I will be getting to the UK for awhile! Someday I will visit my friends and family in Jersey, England and Scotland..til then I just daydream while at Epcot! Hey dont forget the garden area in the back great for meeting the characters! OH and as an 8yr veteran of the USPS ..you dont have the postal market cornered on being slllloooowwww! ;) But I do love the Sherlock Holmes idea, lots of great authors from England...loads of possibilities...from Ivanhoe to Dorian Gray...can you imagine the options???

I'm not from the UK.

And I think it's painfully boring.

Maybe they should have a ride themed to WIND IN THE WILLOWS! whats that characters name... Mr. Toad?

Or a Yellow Submarie Ride?

I like the UK Pavilion! But I always skip the American one. Every time.

Hey Dwarful, my dad works for the USPS in Illinois. I don't suppose you know a wacky man named Ted who works out of Carol Stream, do you? (If you did, you would know right away. I mean, he is DIFFERENT.)

How about a "Ride the PM" hub and spoke attraction?

I'm first for ridin' Maggie!

Actualy, UK is one of my favs as well, mainly for the R&C.

Though a Yank, I can not get enough Bass Ale.
Well maybe I can, but it take a while.

I think that a Mr. Toads Wild Ride type ride would be fun, it
could spin you through the English countryside.

A Mr Toad style would be fun

I recon Journey to find the Loch Ness Monster woudl be good or somthing similar.

I just think its a bit drab. The R&C is good though - got the smell just right :)

and as for the ride a PM option -

I wonder if its coz the UK decided that enough Americans came to the UK without having to pile shed loads of cash into Disney to get more tourism? as they are going to come anyhow?

Dunno - do the countries have to pay for the pleasure of being in Epcot or at least setting it up?

The problem is, and I suspect this might be true for much of the world showcase, is that it seems to be what an American thinks Britain is like, but an American who hasn't been to Britain in 50 years...

There is another thread running titled "World Show Case Rehab....If we had a say in it!!!" Someone suggested putting a replica London Eye in England. That would be a great idea for us the enthuiasts, but I don't think Disney would be too keen. 1) Because it would cost a fortune, and 2) There is very little space, 3) You would be able to see too much of backstage, not only Epcot but the resort area and over to MGM!

I like England in WS, being from England when I go there its "mine" - although it is very rosey and stereotypical. I guess thats the same with all countries though. Having a replica of a coucil estate in East London just wouldn't be the same.

I'm not sure what could be done to improve England, maybe have Fish & Chips for £1.20 like what I pay when I'm at home.

Its a shame England in WS doesn't have te same liscening rules as England. It was very strange going into a pub and knowing that I wasn't able to have a alcoholic drink in there, even though a week earlier I was pullling pints myself. :slurp:

How about a Mary Poppins ride on carousel horses through the English countryside.

Or a Mad Hatter's Tea Party? Sort of like the Cat in the Hat at that other theme park.

I'm from England and the only reason I stop in the UK pavilion is the fish and chips. :slurp:

They need to do something with that "authentic" red telephone box too. I mean.....all the glass panes are still intact. ;)
