The Spirited Seventh Heaven ...

I think partially this is the root of some of the MyMagic problems. Now 50 to 90% of guests are forced to follow something that at least partially resembles a touring plan, it's thrown a spanner in the works for those used to following them the traditional way.
Yep. This is true for sure. It's socialism for WDW guests. With the old system those in the know really could take advantage and get a significant edge over the casual guest. FP+ does levelize some of that. However, there are still ways to work the system to your advantage if you are intimately familiar with the way it works.

Depends on what party wins in November if the D's win they will certainly reward their friends in the entertainment industry, If the R's win they will not simply to spite their enemies in the entertainment industry.
I'm not sure I agree with that. Remember, even though Hollywood tends to push a more liberal viewpoint, the film industries are also businesses wanting to make a buck. Just my opinion, though.

The idea Jim was talking about sounded like it would have a whole group of riders within the dome, which wouldn't work with this patent. Since the rider controls the movement this patent would only work if each rider had their own project dome. Cool idea, but very hard to scale to a large capacity.
The idea Jim was talking about was definitely individual pods.

They're all kissing Gary buchanans @$$ right now trying to get on next years gravy train

And he's the kind of man that would have none of that. Yes, they're trying.

And failing.

So for anyone who is actually trying to get on the moms panel… I give you my unsolicited advice: don't kiss up. Focus on the guests and your own application. (And I have zero influence here, it's just my opinion.)

So Agents of Shield was scheduled to be the first place to see the Avengers Age of Ultron trailer. The trailer has leaked online. So much for that plan.
This might not have been the trailer intended to be with Agents of Shield. From what Ive read/ heard is that the trailer that we saw today had a scheduled release date of April 2015. Which makes it the international trailer, usually this is the last trailer to come out, and the fact that it said May 2015 makes me think this is the case. So maybe this wasn't intended to be seen next tuesday, but now that its out its probably what we will see, why bother releasing something new when this trailer will still be going strong next week.

This is very true. The average person researching a Disney vacation has no way of knowing who Lou Mongello or any of the others are. They probably shy away from opinions.

The 1% of guests exposed to the information from touring plans is why the plans work. If 50% or 90% of people followed the plans they would be useless. This is true of a place like this too. It's why 90%+ of us can agree that Frozen maelstrom is a bad idea, but Disney thinks it's what guests want. People here sometimes can't understand why Disney doesn't see what we all see, but in reality we represent a very small percentage of overall guests and not always a good sample group.
I'd argue it doesn't matter if anyone knows who Lou is. Google is your friend and if you google something for Disney, there's a chance he may show up.

I guess I don't have to worry about going off topic around these parts but I wanted to drop a tid bit of info that happened to me. Monday was the first day the Holiday package was available for CM's. For those who don't know the CM's receive a special discount for the Holidays, There are some black out dates such as Christmas and New Years but most of the dates are available.....till now. I called on the very first day at zero hour and the ONLY available rooms were the pool view at AKL. That's it....no Mods.....no Value rooms. I have been doing this for nearly twenty years and I never have experienced such a limit of accessibility.

IMO instead of Disney doing away with the Holiday offering to avoid the major PR hit they in essence did away with it by limiting access. This a long with limiting the main gate pass more and more looks as though they are finding other ways to cut and make the bottom line look better....

I think its terrible, there are CM's who only work there for these perks. There are others who simply look forward to this offering as a special gift for their families. Last year at CBR it was a ghost town, I suspect this year its going to be the same. So they are taking HUGE blocks of rooms out of service instead of giving them to their employees. Why? to save a buck.....Nice move Disney!

Now the CM's cant even afford to enjoy the place in which they work at. Most of these CM's booked a value at 60%, which allowed them to stay on property and enjoy what the guest they serve everyday do....not this year. Disney = The Grinch that stole Christmas.

'74 alluded to this a while back too...

Glad to see someone resurrected this topic. I just haven't had time to chime in of yet ...

But did want to toss one tidbt into the mix regarding Disney taking rooms out of service (which they have been increasingly doing) yet also making getting discounts **** near impossible.

I had a friend check rates a few weeks back for a possible visit later this fall. CM rates at both the 40 and 50% off levels. For a period of a week there literally was not one room at any resort in any price category available. That's not the reality of room availability, however. Disney is simply deciding to leave rooms/buildings/wings empty versus 'giving them' to CMs and their families and friends at prices close to what they should really be.

I'm going to be up at WDW in January to see some MAGICal folks ... and I'm wondering if I should start looking for a CM rate now or simply stay over at one of UNI's resorts at a TM rate rather than play these supply and BS demand games.

Like I've often said, if you torture numbers enough, then they'll say anything ... right @ParentsOf4?

Cast Member discounts pull down the all-important Per Room Guest Spending (PRGS), which is tied to the bonuses of some executives at TDO. :greedy:

It's stuff like this that drives certain Disney executives in Burbank crazy. Revenue opportunities slip away at WDW because of counterproductive bonus targets at TDO.

It really is a case of penny wise and pound foolish. :banghead:

Conversely, some in Burbank have been squeezing TDO to improve margins. Yet, somehow, they fail to see cause-and-effect. It's always "somebody else's fault", never "my fault". :arghh:
