This ride is going to be absolutely amazing it sounds like a combination of many different rides and technologies. From what they have quoted this will be the most detailed and realistic ride ever built transporting riders straight into the world of the Mummy, Universal hasn't quite tackled the realism of audio animatronics that Disney has over the years but they say the animatronics for this ride will be the most advanced ever built I wonder if they will be more advanced than Disneys A-100 animatronics? The special effects are also supposed to be the most advanced with two show scenes that won't even be known until it officially opens this leads me to beleive that the suspended particle screen that was talked about on Screamscape.com will display the face of the Mummy rising up from the desert sand as it did in the movie, not to mention I think this ride will aslo use a new form of Peppers ghost as seen in the Haunted Mansion ballroom and the Tower of Terror corridor scene.
The ride system should also be as equally amazing the coaster cars on the extremely wide track gauge are supposed to go forward and backward on the same continuous track they will also have some sort of motionbase capabilities which would be the first time thats ever been done on a rollercoaster before. Whatever happens I guess we'll find out in a year!
