Changes coming:
- TSM expanded
- TSPlayland clone from Paris
- Clone of CarsLand from California (at least RSR)
- New Fantasmic
- New coaster (Crush's Coaster clone from Paris or a new Monsters based coaster)
- New shows of Tangled and Frozen coming to replace BaTB and VoTLM
- Star Wars Land
That's a lot of speculation, wishful thinking and blue sky there.

I'd say some of it sounds reasonable for a DHS makeover.

Toy Story Playland is cheap ($75-100 million for 3 rides and a QSR isn't bad at all) and gives little kids something to do. I could see that easily opening alongside a 3rd track for TSMM. Maybe something more family-friendly to replace the RC Racers.

Star Wars Land sounds like it will happen at some point in the next 10-12 years. Maybe after MK's 50th... but definitely at some point. He also never mentioned what exactly would be added - if it's just a coaster, a spinner, expanded Jedi Training Academy and Mos Eisley Cantina... shouldn't cost more than NFL. I'd like to see some kind of family dark ride thrown in, but I know it's not going to happen.

B&TB along with Mermaid show replacements are pretty easy to do.

Fantasmic updates - also feasible.

All of the other Pixar stuff sounds like wishful thinking. Especially Crush's Coaster coming over here. It would have opened in 2010-2011 if it were coming over here. Cars-land just doesn't make sense without everything being included. Not to mention I'd prefer Monstropolis (with Ride and Go Seek + Laugh Floor), Bug's Land and an Incredibles E-ticket (coaster or dark ride... either one) over RSR lite, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and TSPL. At least that would give Pixar Place 4 different franchises as opposed to 3. Personally, I'd like 5, but I don't think the budget could handle Cars, Incredibles, Bug's Life, and MI.

Oh I agree. Reasonable. Feasible. Desirable.

Star Wars is coming. Pixar expansion is coming. Hopefully more too.

There just aren't any specifics yet beyond a wish list.

And pray Toy Story Playland doesn't come. It's ugly as hell.

Last I was told there is a hefty budget for the park. But if that includes infrastructure, hat moving and the like what sounds huge suddenly isn't so. Add in WDIs bloated economy and its even less.

Big changes are coming. That's the one certainty. And the plan is accelerating.

So again - if there are no specifics, why in the world did they just close American Idol, Backlot tour and Jack Sparrow? Is this just a short term cost savings while they dream up new plans?

Yeah, it's safe to say there are specifics out there. They're just being held pretty close to the vest at this point.

Oh I dare say any plans are close to being finalised. The accelerated closure program has to mean more than cost cutting.

Certainly. If they're not finalized already! The question is when will they announce their plans to the public. I would assume they would make all the announcements at once (Renaming, Pixar and StarWars). It would certainly create a healthy buzz about Disney World. Which is a far-cry from what it's been recently.

YES!!! And it needs to be repeated. I have no idea why there is so much tolerance towards this. It is embarrassing. On my recent visit to DLR I realized that DCA's version of it is bugs land. And it is so much prettier (even if the rides suck).

I'd say that there will be a huge press anouncement when it happens and lots of commercials touting the "new" Disney's (_______) Park. This may not be the first theme park renaming that Disney has done, but the last time was only to remove the MGM from the name. No real buzz there, and no park changes.

Okay..... I really must not have been clear. One more shot here. In a previous posting I stated that the new icon for the park should be a Disney icon, or one of unique design that people can begin to recognize as that park's icon. It does not have to be a branded icon, but if it is then it will be a Disney brand icon.
I don't believe that the Theater was ever thought of as an Icon by Disney. The closest thing that they had was the tower. DHS was a completely different thing then the other ride intensive parks. The meaning of "the Hollywood that never was and always will be" is strictly what it sounds like. Very few actually live in Hollywood and our entire image of Hollywood was via the movies. It was real, but never as glamorous as peoples imaginations were able to conjure up. Many of the things like the Theater were real and, in the early days of Hollywood, was crucial to movie makers as a start off, show off part of the movie business. It basically epitomized the Golden Age of Hollywood. It's was crucially important to Hollywood becoming the place to make movies. It was in DHS because it made the mood of the park. The old Hollywood that everyone imagined. However, it was not considered the Icon of the park because like the street itself, everything funneled from the studio's to the theater. That was the progression.

Personally, I think that the BAH was placed there at exactly the same time frame that the Studios stopped being a studio and just more of a showplace. I think it was a bad move, but they could have done worse. It would be nice to have the old street atmosphere back again though.
