Trip Report THE ONE WITH A FEW MAGICIANS IN AUGUST 🤡COMPLETE🤡

Hello again.
I have another trip booked in less than three weeks so I need to power through this. So let’s go.....

In my last TR you all convinced me to take a side trip to WDW after dropping my son off at school. I was on the fence until one poster (I am too lazy to look it up) said they would never pass up an opportunity to visit WDW. I agree.

Not too long after that we had a big family get together and I asked if anyone wanted to drive down to Florida with X and I then go to WDW with me for a couple days. My 16YO nephew said yes but he is kind of a nervous type so I did not take him seriously. A few days later his mother, my SIL said, “you know J was serious right?”

I went on DVC and booked a room immediately. I could not believe my luck when I got a 1BR at Boardwalk. I have been trying for 12 years to stay there. Yay!!!

THEN my SIL, also being the nervous type, said she would go too. WHAT???
She was just there at Christmas and she is going with me in September for food and wine. This is way out of character for her.

THEN my youngest, Dre, decides he wants to go. Wait. We are not all going to fit in X’s
truck.

SIL suggests she fly down with the boys and meet me at Disney. That is what we did. Let me tell you about it......

We then had a FP for Toy Story. We went a really strange way and had #shirleystatus almost the entire time.

This is definately not the usual route. Right? Am I losing my mind? I even look freaked out (and I am glowing)

Once we entered the CM standing there spoke into his walkie talkie, “the last guest has a pink avocado hat on.” People! I am not making this up

See the tarp to the right? SIL asks me what it is. I shrug so she asks the CM. “It’s fire wall. Just a fire wall.”
Ummm......clearly it is a tarp blocking off a big portion of the queue.

We could see through the gap a bit. But the CM stuck to his story.
I am wondering if that portion of the queue flooded from the massive rainfall the night before. Or, maybe Bob was back there!!!

This makes me think of X as 9 is his jersey number.

The ride was fun as always!

TUESDAY 8/27 cont

Dre looks happy with his Mickey bar.

The line for Star Tours was short but I think I remember SIL always sitting this one out. My husband definitely does and I think SIL is right there with him. So I suggested the boys go alone. Hmmmmm. Let’s see. What can two adults do that is near Star Tours?

My third rope drop of the day! First was SDD, then the ladies room. Or maybe reverse those. Anyhow, it was 10:55 and we were first inside Baseline

Yay. So excited for beer. And look SIL! Draft, hold the butte cheeks

We split the pretzel.

And a flight.

SIL had to fix the staging for her insta photo.

First ones in get the best seats.

The place was full in about 5 minutes.

Here they come. Star Tour complete! Beers complete.

Moving on...

TUESDAY 8/27 cont

We had a FP for Rock n rollercoaster which SIL was going to skip. Something about it giving her a head ache.
The boys and I made our way while she mobile ordered some lunch for us.

It was pretty empty.

Is that a smile?

Trust me You do not want to hear this boy sing!

Dre’s full name is Andreas. He was named after the San Andreas fault (so fitting btw). In elementary school, at the beginning of the year when the kids would introduce themselves and make the all about me posters he would always mention this fact. His teachers would be like “what?” And he would say, “my Mom is from California.” That would satisfy them.
He is pointing to his name here.

Then we went to get our food that SIL had mobile ordered for us.

Nothing fancy. Some world famous chicken nuggets for us to share. And beers for the adults.
There was a water dispenser near the mobile order pick up window. We had been standing there awhile with some other guests and I went to fill a cup with water. One of the men standing there said, “every third water we put a little salt in and it really helps.” My reply, “every third I make a beer! That really helps!”


While eating there was a little kid feeding the birds. I really hate that. More on that later though. A man, not with the kid, started SCREAMING at him. Not asking him to stop. Not asking his parents to ask him to stop. He just went off on this kid. It was unmagical.

TUESDAY 8/27 cont

After our tasty nuggets and the floor show we headed to Tower of Terror!

My friend’s daughter goes to grad school at Bowling Green. I sent this picture to her and she knew where I was!

Ha ha. I tried. See @BuddyThomas this picture stinks!

Then we headed to the Indiana Jones show because Dre really wanted to see it. It had been years.

Wow. This show is awful! It used to be great but they have not updated it even a little bit. Such a shame.

You all sure accomplished a lot at DHS so far! We love slipping into Baseline and sharing a beer and a pretzel before the masses get there after the opening! Did you have a fastpass for SDD or did you actually wait the 100 minutes Stand By time posted? Love your story about how you came to name your son Andreas.

Following. I just got caught up on this report and read your May report last week. I’m loving the nod to the nuggets! My daughter has to eat them practically everyday when we’re down there. I’ve started sharing with her. They are addictive! Anyway, I’m thoroughly enjoying your writing.

I have a grandson who is 13 and already starting "the look". Oh boy!
BTW, the parks look really light. Was the attendance low the whole time you were there? We go on a supposedly "slow" time and the waits at TOT are never below an hour!

We did not have SDD FP and we did not wait 100 minutes. Technically we waited 45. Plus the 30 minutes we waited on Sunset blvd.
But crowds were pretty light. Most states had started school and Galaxys Edge was opening the next day.

Let’s agree to disagree on this one. Though I’ll admit that the show could use some tlc.

Should I say stale instead? The same jokes, the same choreography, the same blah blah blah. It needs a refresh. A lot of kids dont even know who Indiana Jones is! I know!!! Total blasphemy!!!

My sister’s MIL, a native Floridian taught me that trick. I havent thought of that in years! And I love multi tasking!! Thanks

It was pretty slow. It was the day before Galaxys Edge and Food and Wine opened. Plus, the heat keeps the light weights away
