Trip Report THE November ('14) Engagement Trip

I've been a member of this forum for a little while now and really enjoy reading these so I wanted to share this story with all of you. It's been nearly a year so I should (finally) post about it. I'll do my best but any feedback is totally welcome, especially since we'll be going again in '16. If the pics are too big or something tell me, not sure on how to resize....

Booked - April '14
When- November 16-22 (Sunday-Saturday) 2014
Resort - Fort Wilderness Cabins
Starring......
Kristen

Experience - 5th trip, third with me (two as a kid). Very much a Disney girl all year long.

Sean (at my favorite Starbucks on earth, Orlando airport)

Experience - 3rd trip. I'd never been to WDW and never even considered it until I dated Kristen for a few years.

*We've been dating since 2009 and have been, well, serious about eachother since at least 2012. It was that year ('12) that we gave Disney a shot and I've been hooked since (hence the third trip in three years)

Background - This trip occurred a few months after we moved in together. I told myself I'd be ready to get engaged if we could live together for a bit and knew by that November it'd be time to do it. I had reservations about getting engaged at WDW but I knew she loved the place and our very best times together have been on these trips.

PLANNING......
I booked in April with a free dining package. These boards were a big help about when the dates were going to be released. I work at a company that runs a huge event every year around March/April time so it was nice to come back from that and get to planning. I'm a planner at heart, always have been, and I know several of you are too. I also began exchanging ideas with a very helpful woman named Jane regarding something special for the engagement many months in advance. I'm not sure what kind of shout-out I can give her on the boards, let me know if I can.

Ring purchased and hidden, reservations made, some surprises set up. Let's GO.....

I LOVE FW cabins! I love everything about the place, the golf carts, the friendly people, the trading posts, the cozy cabins, the buffet! Now I am home sick!

hear you loud and clear. we've even kicked around the idea of doing a vacation just at the cabins. like, go down there and make a list of all the activities there that we haven't tried like archery.

another fun thing that i was not aware of is the decorating contest on halloween where you can register your spot and compete for best setup. the golf cart parades sound fun too. really a whole community going on there

They do the same thing at Christmas with the voting for best decorations.

thanks.

The wedding thing. We did kick that around and did the homework. We looked into doing the ceremony at the Wilderness Lodge. It was for a very small group and the view looked incredible in the photos. It was the number 2 option for a while, but our first choice of location (which is here in CT) ended up working out for us financially so we went with that. It wasn't even just a money thing, it was also because hardly anyone in our family was going to travel for it, which was disappointing but I could go on about that all day.

Honeymoon will probably be elsewhere since we're doing Disney one more time for fun in the fall of 2016 (she also finishes school mid-'16 too so plenty to celebrate) and then the wedding is the year after. appreciate the kind words though
