The spraypainted 'boxes' are what made me feel un-easy... waiting to see one that did NOT show a 'zero' ... makes you feel sick to your stomach.

But you stay busy...

I'm debating whether or not to post the remaining 30 or so...

more of the same.

I was going to put them on this site in my album...but it just takes so long...even with broadband (no offense Steve) With the amount of hits the photobucket has had over the past 24 hrs...it's probably best I didn't!

They are still talking about it here in Alabama. Just last night they were talking about a Dr. who's getting together a big truck (18 wheeler). They also gave a number for donations.
Same here. Well I would think in South Florida they would spend more time talking about it since we went through the same thing with Andrew. There have been so many donations around here that you would not believe.

Well, the price of oil just hit a record high, and it's probally going to go even higher.

Threat of £4.00 a gallon here (rushes of to bloomberg.co.uk and finds out £4 is $7.2802)

Wow, for once, I'm glad I'm here in Kentucky! Gas this afternoon was $1.75 a gallon. This is up from last week when it was $1.65.

Just wanted to let all know that we heard from my wife's relatives on Port Charlotte and they are OK. Since all they use is a cell phone we haven't been able to reach them and they have been busy trying to clean up and deal with the current difficulties that they forgot to call and let us know they were ok. :fork: Well at least they are ok! :)

The shame of it with today's cycle of 24 hour a day news, the lifespan of such tramatic and important events are just shortened beyond belief. Everyone moves on faster then they should, and the real impact isnt felt beyond those who experience it firsthand.

I definitely agree. Last year, with Isabelle, it was weeks before we were anywhere close to normal up here in Virginia (mentally AND physically).

So, I am glad to have heard from many of you down there in Florida who were in harm's way, but I know many of you still have a little ways to go (and some have a long way to go) for full recovery.

You are still in my prayers. And I, too, wish more of our media would take more time with follow-through. A few stations break out of the mold and go beyond the 24-hour news cycle, but more should....

BwanaBob-

Your pics are a pretty accurate reflection of what it looks like now -- and those pics were after nearly a week of round the clock clean up! It's amazing to see the damage in real life, and realize that the entire town is gone. Some of the elderly people do not want to leave their piles of rubble to seek relief -- it is heartbreaking to see them just sitting there. You really don't know what experienceing something like that first hand does to you.

BwanaBob mentioned the stentch, but it calling it a stentch is an understatement. Much of the debris there (and in my area -- Lee County) has not been picked up yet, so in addition to no water or sewers in many places (yes, still!) there is also rotting vegetation, too, and a disrupted flow of water in Charlotte Harbor which is allowing some water to become stagnent.

Wow. I am sorry to hear this, but not really surprised.

Thanks for keeping us informed on your progress, and those of your neighbors. The national news has largely "moved on," but I know that there is still more to the news in Florida, as you all work toward rebuilding. Thanks again for the update; I will continue to pray for you all.
