The thing is Belle I have had a few negative points and i dont care about them. All its saying to me again is that i feel like I am in high school again with the popularity and even though it has been years since I have been out that is what it is feeling like again. I did not have a good high school life as you can tell and sometimes these points and such bring back those bad memories. Thats just a point I am trying to get across here, I hate the rep points and wish they would go away.

I am though glad to hear everybody is ok in Florida. I was suprised to learn a few weeks ago that a tornado was trying to form over my house!!! I was not here at the time but my parents were and things go tossed around. They found the BBQ pit in the middle of the backyard!!! And the lid to the spa was halfway off!! YIKES!!

I was at WDW for the hurricane, and I'm safely home in PA now. I was terrified! I'm glad there are pictures posted already since I saw a lot of the damage on property. I stayed at Caribbean Beach and let me tell you, I have never seen so many trees down in my life! Glad to see so many of the members have reported saying that they are ok!

back to the business of the thread, that is to show love and support to all our Florida friends who have been through so much with Hurricane Charley!! Belle
I just received word that the hospital I work for in Indiana is helping out Charlotte Regional Hospital in Punta Gorda. This was in their daily newsletter today.

Charlotte Regional Hospital in Punta Gorda needs our help The hurricane has left 500 employees of Charlotte Regional Hospital in Punta Gorda, Fla., without homes due to the devastation and damage. About one third of the hospital staff is having a very difficult time. If you would like to help, beginning tomorrow there will be a coffee can in each cafeteria for cash donations.

The cans will be in place for one week. Charlotte Regional Hospital has also setup an online donation area. If you would like to make an online donation,

Please visit http://www.charlotteregional.com. Urgent assistance is requested for these hospital employees. Your assistance will be carefully dispersed to help hospital employees who are in severe need. Thank you for your kindness.

What other online donations are out there, we can support. I would gladly donate part of my Disney Vacation stash for this cause. I could live without a few souvenirs.

Even if the negative-rep-point-giver felt this same way, why would BELLE get slammed? She's not the one who posted the picture. It makes no sense to me. :veryconfu

WOW! Now I got a red box for saying this! What on Earth is going on?

It's a conspiracy, I tell you! :drevil:

Just to fill you guys in a little more...

One of the hardest hit areas in my community, "Lakeside", has power back. It was really bad over there. Right by the houses, were 12 or so wooden power line poles. Every single one of those poles snapped, and the power lines were draped over the houses, with a few even laying on the roofs.

I was able to talk to Tifani yesterday. She still does not have power, but she is staying with her aunt, who does have power. Her neighborhood got hit really bad too. She told me that her kitchen window broke, and her garage door looks like someone rammed a car into it. She said something had hit it and made a huge dent. Everyone is ok though.

Second Harvest Food Bank is giving out food at TD Waterhouse. 100,000 pounds have already been given out, and they said they may have enough 'til the weekend. If you are relaying any information to anyone down here via phone, and they don't have power and need info, lemme know. I can pass on any info that the news is passing on to me.

Good luck Patrick.. Congratulations on getting power back, I know there's still thousands that wish they had it. Tell Tifani that if her family needs anything, they can have my number.

I'm heading out to Belle Isle now which was one of the hardest hit areas in Orange County (where I live), so scope it out.

Hey Erika, I'm cool like you! I got a red anonymous box for saying this:

You got slammed for that?! I'm sorry that happened Belle. This is starting to get ridiculous because you said nothing wrong at all. I liked that picture as well...so bring it on!! .

The funny part is, I later apologized for it because it might've been taken the wrong way. Oh well. Gives my rep area a Christmas feel .

i'm back... didn't go to Belle Isle, but Dave did. Not good at all, to say the least.

I ended up going to the Osceola Square Mall where they're distributing food, ice, and water. Police from all over the state (I saw almost no local PD there, all from elsewhere) as well as National Guard were there to help people by distributing these goods, directing traffic, and escorting people to their cars (Apparently, people are getting their carts stolen in parking lots now while walking goods over).

that's it for now, pics up tonight.. later

Thanks for the news and updates MKT. I am just amazed at how nasty people can be in the face of adversity. Stealing carts as you said and the looting I heard about on the news......very sad. :( :( :( Belle

I can't fully express my opinion here without getting thrown off the boards for abusive language. So I shall have to restrain myself.

I have a question: Is there a lot of price gouging going on up there? I heard on the news that 2 hotels were getting sued by I think the state of Florida because they were charging absurd prices to the people that needed somewhere to stay. Also, my mom was telling me that when Andrew came through in '92, this was happening with items like ice. Back then we lived about half an hour or more away from Coral Gables and when Andrew hit and we were left without power (lasted a week, by the way- was not pretty!), we went all the way to Gables for a bag of ice, and were charged $10 for it!

Sorry for my rambling, but I was just wondering if this was going on now.

yes there is still a lot of price gouging going on. Last I heard some gas stations where selling gas for over $3.00 when gas here is $1.75.

I have a question. Was Disney upping the hotel prices over the weekend? I have a friend who just returned home from their Disney vacation a day or two ago. They had to stay an extra day because of the storm. They stayed at the All Stars and said for the extra day they were charged about $120 instead of around $100 (which is what they initially paid for their room). I was just wondering if this was really happening. If so, it's not fair at all.

This storm reminds me a lot about Andrew...the reported price gouging and the insurance issues are two things which remind me even more of Andrew....luckily the state was prepared for these issues before the storm...lets hope all those laws and funds work...

Its sad that people have no conscious...how can someone take advantage of people whose lives have been practically shattered?

*sigh*

Sorry for the late responce. I live in Daytona Beach (Ormond Beach if you know the area) and i must say, damage is bad. I just got power back today, and the school's are closed until monday. We stayed up, and waited as the eye passed over, scary stuff. Everyone is ok that i know, so that's good news. Our local privite school's parking lot is in 3-5 inches of water. the closest publix to me suffered great structral damage, and i expect them to tear down the old plaza and build a new one, due to the leaking and damage. Most of the city has power back. I was lucky, i know for many of you it was much worse. My grandmother lost a 150+ year old oak tree, just fell right over. I hope everything is ok with all of you. Our local food lion had blocked off all freezers, and was throwing everything away. Things are getting back to normal, but trees are falling still, due to how moist the ground is. and many have gotten power back, and then lost it, due to a blown transformer. i realize that this story is nothing compared to what some of you had to go through, i hope all of you are safe, and everyone in this city realizes how much more you went through. Our thoughts and prayers are with all.

I'm back home!!!!!! We got our power back last night so we left my wife's parents house and came home. Now, its clean up time :hurl: You really take power for granted until you lose it. The price gouging is BAD! There are several 18 wheel tractors in parking lots selling $450 generators for $1000+. The police are cracking down pretty good-anybody caught gets a $1000 per item sold fine. These people are smart and open up for an hour or 2 then move. The gas lines suck, somebody shot up the shell in North port during the storm, I stopped to get gas on my way up to Tampa today and there are 3 bullets stuck in the "bulletproof" glass and the 1st panel of glass is spider web cracked but the 2nd layer isn't even cracked. Huh, I guess that glass really does work.Somebody helped themselves to 20 gallons of gas from my F-150 that was parked in front of the house since the storm, what really makes me mad is I have to use 93 octane plus a $12 bottle of booster with every tank full! That's $50 worth of racing fuel some goomba is probably wasting in their generator. They even stole the gas cap. At least they didn't break into the house or the truck, alot of looting since theives know no power means no alarm and no one home.Don't you love the criminals, everyone thinks I'm crazy because I have so many guns-but at a time like this guns are invaluable.
