The Great Movie Ride question.

Just wondering, but do they even bother doing the bandit scene during the ride anymore. Have been on the ride numerous times during different times of the day and always get the gangster for probably the last two years. Just curious.

If they are only running one train through when you are there, it will always be the gangster part. If they have two trains if you go to the front one, you will see the western scene. I noticed that I sometimes become a creature of habit and when I go through the door to the platform I head to the left. When I remember I correct myself and go to the right. That gets me the western, if they are running it that day.

They were running both the gangster and bandit scenes last week when we were there. I will say this the CM's that were guides and bad guys left a lot to be desired.

I always loved TGMR when I was younger and though knowing the faults I was excited to ride it while I was at the park this time (first time in 6 years) and I too thought the guide and actress were kinda bland. It was late in the day but still...I wondered if it was being younger that made my memories of the scenes seem better but I vividly remember being much more engaged by some very charismatic gangsters/cowboys in the old days.

The ride sorely needs updating too. I love Alien so I'd always want that section in there but my god that 'Sigourney' has NEVER looked remotely like the woman. Change Tarzan into something else too. *No one* ever talks about/mentions that old adaptation. I'm a filmmaking graduate, so I'd know. I don't want to see the attraction closed as it's a great, fun concept that feels like you get a lot for your queue time, and in a lovely venue, but *something* needs to be done.

The CMs make this ride. If you get a lazy one or an introvert it sucks.

I usually do this attraction twice on my HS day - I love it. You are right the CM makes the ride - I have been fortuante to always have a good guide.

Now what about the updated backlot tour? Exactly what does the CM do now? I used to love this attraction as well but now it is TERRIBLE. I hate the prerecorded track

On the plus side there's a good chance that you won't have to hate it much longer.

Yes they do. The Western scene runs year-round.

I was just there last month and had the western scene. I agree--When I was younger I believed it all much more. Maybe I had a bad castmember but it just seemed very bland this time around. I also totally think they need to update the scenes, keep some of the old but also add some new. They usually are great about updating attractions, I don't understand why they haven't done anything with this one yet.

They don't usually run both trains if there's a low crowd day, and I've never seen both trains running at rope drop unless it was peak season. I finally got bold enough to ask for the first car a couple years ago, and now I always ask for it if both are running. They may ask you to wait for the next group to go in, but that's fine with me.

Update the movies shown at the end too. I know a few new ones are moved in, but I can't stand the screaming Robin Williams "Goooooooooood mornin' Vietnaaaaaaaaaaaaam!" That schtick wasn't even enjoyable when the movie itself was new.

They need to have a little enthusiasm and speak up...should be similar to Kilamanjaro drivers or JC captains

Both are run during low crowds. Western may not run as long during the day (or as often), but it is done

Used to love this attraction. Now it is definitely outdated. Rode I t in November; no line during Thanksgiving week. Got the gangster again. I was so frustrated with the CMs' lack of acting abilities or enthusiasm for their jobs that I wanted to jump up and take over for them.

Most of the JC captains we have had recently seem to have either Debbie Downer Syndrome or a mouth full of marbles and rushed delivery of lines. I liked it so much better when they gave captains a little more freedom to ad lib.

This might be enjoyable to you guys. Last Sept we at DHS. Maybe a 10 min walk through the queue. No line at all. Our CM must have been popping Valium all day bc she had the most monotonous, uninterested, somebody please shoot me I hate my job, voice I have ever heard. We get to the gangster scene and lose her. There is an audible yeah throughout the tram. We get to the Indiana jones scene where the jewel gets touched and the CM returns. When she pulls her robe off instead of the usual "hooray" there was an audible "AWE". I felt a little bad but it did not encourage the CM to get a little more enthusiastic at all!

We did it twice last week. I'm sick of the trying to have an old filmy accent on the cm. I could barely understand what either person said. It was like they had marbles in their mouths.

OMG- I think I just became old.
Wonder if we had the same gangster. Her accent was so thick that we had NO idea what she was saying (and after countless rides we have the script memorized!)
