Trip Report The first days of F&G 2016

I was in Orlando from 2-27 to 3-6. I went to the 4 WDW park and spent 3 days at Universal. This trip report will focus on F&G and will be picture heavy. If you know me well, you know it will include pics of food.

I got to Epcot on 2/27 and just about all of the topiaries were up and ready to go. There was a lot of work to be done on the gardens and a few other things. I wondered how they get everything ready to go so quickly. The short answer is, they don't. I saw a good amount of work being done on the morning of 3/2, the first day of the festival.

I'm sure you have seen tons of pictures of the topiaries, so I won't include too many of those. The Butterfly garden was beautiful
as always.

The gardens were a lot of fun and I learned a lot from them. I won't bore you with pictures of all of them, but here are a few.

Now, let's talk about my favorite thing about the festival. The food!
I went for 2 days, so I started with Urban Eats.

I got the watermelon salad (delicious) and the naanwich (meh)

Nothing at Pineapple Promenade really appealed to me this year other than the lemonade.

It was one of my favorite things at the whole festival

La Isla Fresca had some decent options

I got the chicken (it was ok) and the cake (delicious)

This menu didn't jump out at me, so I got the sangria. It was blah and didn't taste like watermelon or elderflower

I have had the strawberries before and I didn't like them much, so I went for the spring rolls this time. They were ordinary egg rolls, but the sriracha sauce was tasty. The dragon pearl was a fantastic beverage. Who knew beer with cream and honey could taste so good!

Next up was Germany.

I got the armer ritter and elderflower mint brut. The french toast was ok and the brut was simply brut. No other flavors to be found.

Italy was the biggest disappointment.

I got the primavera and it was blah.

Next up was the USA. I wasn't in the mood for BBQ, so I got the cake. It was warm, soft and delicious.

Hanami in Japan was my favorite.

The frushi and the bun were both fabulous.

Florida Fresh was my favorite in previous years, but this year's menu did not appeal to me.

It was getting really hot and the watermelon cucumber slushy sounded refreshing. It turned out to be a frozen lemonade. The lemon flavor overpowered the others and I didn't taste watermelon at all.

I was full after that, so I just enjoyed Epcot until it closed and decided to come back the next day.

I came back to try the things I missed from day 1 and to enjoy repeats of my favorites. I had no doubt what my first stop would be. This time I got a flower in my desert violet lemonade.

Cider House in the UK was my next stop.

I got the salad and the cider sampler.

I couldn't finish all of the ciders, but it was nice to sample the different flavors

France was up next.

The onion tart was delicious. Perfectly flavored and flaky. The Macaron was really hard and not the usual standard of macarons there.
