i honestly believe that disney is reaping the reward of NO ONE BEING ABLE TO GO ANYWHERE FOR A YEAR.. and after that the crap is gonna hit the fan... I think that these crowds are just people WHO NEED TO GO SOMEWHERE AND WE GO THERE NOW>. and after that we are going to evaluate the cost.. and the return benefits..

and after this year.. if the virus has subsided , people are going to reevaluate just how much has been lost, at Disney world, and how it is NO LONGER WALT'S disney world.. and then shareholders may be in for a big surprise..

heck right now I am crawling on my belly begging to go to the Previous Disney world.. JUST BECAUSE I HAVEN"T BEEN ANY WHERE IN TWO PLUS YEARS.. NO WHERE.. Heck I can count the times that I have been in my Local Walmart on TWO HANDS.. easily. and that's for the past two plus years.. in the past we could go to Walmart three times in a week.. have not been in Target ONCE in close to 3 years.. BESTBUY ONE TIME.. Heck I have been to the Doctor more then all of that..

No Bob Cheapskake is reaping the benefits people who are desperate .. We need to GO SOME WHERE>> please LETS GO SOME WHERE.. that's the current economics of WDW..

Only a recession will change any of these policies…they will only intensify.

Customers make a lot of mistakes at Disney parks these days. But the first is always accepting whatever price increase/quality reductions rolled out individually for “reason X”

Everything is justified in this relationship.

Once some policy is accepted…you can’t walk it back.

I would like to believe that except Disney has been pushing the line well before covid and the parks just kept seeing record attendance. And if by some chance attendance does start to slip, they just need to offer free genie+ and free parking and everyone comes running back.

The virus has subsided....Disney will never go back to what it was. 50% of the people are paying for Genie+ and it's only going up from here. this is what it is from here on out.

It goes both ways.

Covid was killer for the DIS shareholders. It's easy to think that Disney is taking advantage of people right now. However, their parks have not been operating full steam ahead for two years, sometimes intentionally despite local guidance telling them they could ramp up further if they wanted to (labor issues notwithstanding). The cynic in me can say this was to protect their brand. Regardless, had they gone harder to open up sooner I would view that more as evidence that they don't give a hoot about anything but money.

That being said, I do agree with OP that Disney is making it very apparent that it's a business hungry for revenue right now. If you ever thought Disney cared more about giving you magic than taking your money, what a wakeup call!

Yes I agree that some of this is people doing make up trips, and some having been tired of Covid isolation desired a special trip to Disney because they wanted to reward themselves and their families for getting through it. I'll accept the fact that Disney will lose a lot of people due to raising costs, change of policies and loss of what once was. But I dont believe people are going to Dis because they need somewhere to go. If thats the reason they have many other options besides Disney that would be more affordable and easier to travel to. Disney has always had the branding and the entertainment to lure people in. Bad policy decisions and raising costs will have some affect going forward but I cant see it as the end of Disney everyone is spouting. Disney has too much popularity and those avoiding Disney now will continue to be replaced by others. Theres not enough depletion of guest numbers and profits to force them to do the turn around you want.

Of course it won't be the end. Disney is all to aware of what they have. They know they can basically do whatever they want. If by chance they push too far, all they have to do is pull back a little and all is forgiven with the fans. Free genie+, free parking, free snack credit... That's all they'll need. They have the deepest nostalgia hook there is, and they know it.

I don’t think people go to Disney parks because they need “somewhere” to go…

…but it’s shown on a daily basis that some people refuse to consider/defend the Walt Disney company because they don’t have the insight/courage to consider that it’s not what they are told it really is?

Life requires thought even in Leisure.

…so what exactly in the Sam hell are you talking about here?

They do right now for guests of a certain age for sure. I'm not as sure about the next generation. Their nostalgia includes some Disney, but it might be much stronger for things they will find at Epic Universe.
That is the big question. I've been talking about that for years now. Is Disney doing enough? Time will tell, but it's of no concern to Disney in the short term. That will be someone else's problem.

The only thing that could be of concern to Disney regarding epic universe, is Nintendo. That has the potential to really alter people's vacation plans. And combine that with Potter and you have a situation where people could drop 2 or 3 days to see it. If Nintendo was open this summer, we would be skipping Disney all together and just do universal.

Disney stock went up when as much as 85% of their business was in mothballs

…nobody suffered on that street. Only laid off cms

Yeah, things were great when Disney+ was ahead of schedule in Nov 2020 and vaccines looked promising. Then 2021 happened. And it hasn't been a good 2022. DIS is back to Q4 2019 prices and hasn't paid a dividend in over two years. You can see what you want to see but numbers don't lie.

Dude…that’s overvalued.

It was speculation based on a streaming service that will cost them a fortune and has made them $0

It’s just speculation…if you go down to the bull and shout “ Disney is worth $275!!”…you’ll get it there in a week.

It’s cute to talk in 20th century terms…However.

“Down”..,that’s funny 😂

And I assume you know the history of the dividend, right? It’s not “here’s some more money just for being YOU!”

But I’ll grant you the modern worries/comforts. You didn’t start the fire…

I can't reply to you when you counter my argument that "shareholders have seen their positions decline due to the effects of Covid" with a profoundly sophomoric half sentence like "its just speculation!". Yeah, and nobody speculated Covid would happen.

Let's just move on.
