The Crystal Palace ( Late dinner reservation with children)

I'm proud of my other half for taking the initiative to make our dinning reservations. Nonetheless, they are for a 9:45pm sitting @ The Crystal Palace the only reservation time that had available.
.
We have 2 little ones ( ages 10 months & 2 years old). While none of them have no problem dining at that late hour ( granted a mid day nap is needed).

Is it obscure, or rather strange for little ones to be out that late dining?
Input would be appreciated.

Or, is it pretty much expected in the world that we call Disney.

It's Disney World, the happies kids place on earth, so you will see kids there at all hours. It's not unusual at all, it's just too bad that was the only reservation time you could find. The kids will love the Pooh characters though. Enjoy yourself!

Thanks:)

I know my little beast well. So, I am certain with a nap, they will be ready to roll.
You are right. It is Disney.

I'm so " Cited" as my 2 year old would say :)

Thanks again,

Very well said.... I totally agree, plus your littles ones will be so tuckered out even with a nap, (so will Mom and Dad!!!) but sleep blissfully, only to wake up the next day to do it all over again :sohappy:

We took our DD2 & DD4 last summer. They took a late afternoon nap, & stayed up until 11pm without any problems. It wasn't unusual to see little ones out for evening EMH until 1am. You know your kids best and how well they will handle staying up late. Just make sure you get them an evening snack so they don't get cranky from being hungry. Enjoy your visit! The Crystal Palace is a wonderful dinner experience!

Like other people replying, I've seen children out with their families at all sorts of odd hours at WDW. Living near NYC, and occasionally having to work in the city quite late, I'm used to seeing people out with children at all hours outside of WDW, too. It seems less weird at WDW, to be honest.

But the best advice I could give - advice that's probably a no-brainer (but let's face it, a lot of parents act as if they're brainless to begin with) - is to keep a close eye on both kids during the day and throughout the trip. Some kids roll with the punches, and they're excited to be at Disney and have an adrenaline rush similar to their moms and dads. Other kids need their regiment, take the same naps, have the same bedtime as at home. Other kids get so overwhelmed by everything, they shut down, and just want to go back to the hotel room (or back home). Don't be "those guys," if your kids have had enough that night, chalk up the night, go home and get some room service. But if they're still in good spirits, enjoy yourselves and try to allot a late morning wake up the next day.

We have a 2 yr old and a 4 yr old. We went to WDW back in Dec and the girls were fine with late evenings and meals as long as 1) they had decent naps 2) had plenty of snacks 3) weren't getting up at the crack of dawn every single day (2 early days w/later evenings followed by a sleep in day-earlier evening worked well for us). And I remember seeing plenty of young kids out late.

One last thought on this...if you don't think they're going to make it that late... you might run by the restaurant early in the day and see if they are able to work you in earlier. You can also show up early to your reservation even if they don't. Trying for something earlier is better than pushing it on a day when you know the kids won't make it that late. And as any parent knows- you can't really predict these things...so I'd keep this in the back of your head as a plan B just in case you need it.

Have a great trip!

I'd say make sure the kiddos get to bed early the night before and get that nap in and they'll be fine. They'll be so excited staying up won't be a problem! Good luck and have a great time!!:ROFLOL:
