The Big Drive

My mom is terrified of flying so whenever we go to WDW, we drive... from CT... 24 hours in total. Since we can't drive 24 hours straight we usually try to reach South Carolina or even Georgia, stop in a hotel, and reach Disney for check-in the day after. Haven't done it for 6 years, but prepping for the long haul again in a few weeks. Wish us luck! Anyone else skip the plane and take long drives to the World?

Good luck! We have actually flown only 2 times. But for most of our trips, we only lived 4 1/2 hours from WDW so it wasn't a big drive. Our honeymoon was the only time we did the big drive. From MI to FL. We stopped in ATL for a night and then finished the drive the next day. I like driving! But flying gets us there so much faster! :)

Yes we are driving down this trip, we tend to mix it up between driving and flying, finding it sometimes easier to drive these days from No. Virginia. While it is a long drive, it also allows us to add an extra day or two to the trip...and thats always a nice thing.

Not to mention all the extra things you can buy because you're not worried about baggage fees!

We drive every time we go. It's cheaper & better then flying with the kids. We usually leave Central PA in the morning, & do the long haul until napping in GA. We take the cooler, packing numerous items, DVD players for the kids. Lots of snacks. Heck we even use the i-95 web site for planning as well, mile markers for each rest area, mile markers for each food exit & gas tracker.
