the 3 absoutely IS the magic number trip report

So that's it, vacation is over. All the planning and dreaming and living and enjoying - done! Now what? Well, in an attempt to relive the BEST TRIP ever. I will retell it to all of you in every Disney detail that only we can appreciate because frankly, I don't think anyone else wants to hear it again. And while WE can look at thousands of pics of "the World" and enjoy each and every one, I don't know how many I can share in the "real world" without completely overwhelming people. So, it is with that thought, sitting on my couch sniffing a bar H20+ blushing orange soap, that I start this trip report.

Day 4 - a Platypus, a Skeleton and a Princess Walk into Hollywood Studios -
But 1st I come out of the shower (smelling orangie of course) to this...
IMG_4938.JPG

I could have sworn that kid had more teeth a moment ago! Yup, sure enough a lost tooth - in Disney! So we get ready and head on down to Everything Pop, we are going to need a little treat to celebrate! So while Connor is shopping around I super slickly go up and get a gift card and explain that he lost a tooth and I need to make this purchase under the radar. The woman then says hang on a sec and disappears into the back, when she returns she has a tiny wooden box in the shape of a tooth, which she quickly pops into a bag along with the card & I'm on my way, the boys none the wiser.
As we are waiting to pay for our treasures, a cast member approaches the boys, it seems that a special kid is picked each day to dress the shop's Duffy Bear and since Finn had chosen a Duffy for himself - he seemed like a perfect choice!
After choosing just the right outfit...
IMG_4940.JPG

IMG_4942.JPG

Duffy took his place on the shelf behind the counter next to his sign showing who he was dressed by that day. The boys each got a copy of the certificate as well. After that we looked to see who had dressed him and what he was wearing each day.
IMG_4943.JPG

So, feeling pretty special again (that special feeling never gets old!) we were off to Hollywood Studios!
IMG_4948.JPG

and the Christmas tree was already up!
IMG_4947.JPG

As any right thinking human, we went right over to get our fast passes for Toy Story Mania
IMG_4953.JPG

The return time was already between 6 & 7, but that was not a problem because we had dinner at Sci-Fi at 6:30, so we would ride then go straight to dinner.

Connor stopped to pose with the Green Army Men (Finn was having NO part of it! The fact that they have no face freaks him out, I have to say, I kind of agree)

A quick pic of the hat on the way over to...
IMG_4963.JPG

the Great Movie Ride
IMG_4960.JPG

IMG_4966.JPG

again I think I'm a nature photographer
IMG_4979.JPG

Then over to the Magic of Disney Animation, checked out the Wreck it Ralph exhibit...

IMG_4981.JPG

Hung out with Frozone & Mr Incredible
IMG_4986.JPG

did some coloring
IMG_4987.JPG

on paper then on the screen
IMG_4994.JPG

Next we got to see Ralph & Vanellope - they were fun!
IMG_5004.JPG

On the way to Star Tours we had to check out this hat! Yes, I know I should have bought it - but I didn't
IMG_5010.JPG

IMG_5025.JPG

Looking cool in line
IMG_5017.JPG

The boys are big Star Wars fans, so we always have to spend a bit of time in Tatooine Traders. The Droid Factory was really cool (and much cheaper than the make your own lightsabers we did last time:p )
IMG_5023.JPG

and came away with these little guys...
IMG_5024.JPG

It was just about lunch time, so we decided to get some lunch at Backlot Express, which was good but judging by the fact that I can't remember what we ate, not that memorable. I do like the different props in all the rooms though!
IMG_5535-001.JPG

We did a little walking around and even though we had eaten lunch not that long ago, we felt it was time for a snack & a break, so we got a frozen lemonade (in the Orangebird! I love him!!! I had one when I was a kid, so little do they know but he's mine!) and some cotton candy, because I'm a health nut :D
and found a good spot to camp out and watch Countdown to Fun
IMG_5042.JPG

not my favorite parade, but an entertaining & much needed rest either way
Duffy enjoyed it too -
IMG_5050.JPG

They have to stop & take a picture on the speeder every trip! I think I am going to put them all in a frame some day so you can see the progression. I just picture them as grown men still posing for this picture!
IMG_5070.JPG

Next the boys got their faces painted
Connor's was cute
IMG_5078.JPG

but I really liked Finn's - he looked so creepy! Especially when he was hugging his Duffy Bear! There is something very wrong about a skeleton hugging a teddy bear!

Next it was on to see Muppet Vision 3D
IMG_5112.JPG

have to check under the mat!
IMG_5113.JPG

yup, there's the key!

I love this fountain!

IMG_5114.JPG

We had to show Connor's Perry face to Phineas and Ferb! They really made a big deal!
IMG_5094.JPG

IMG_5098.JPG

I felt it was time to spruce up my look too...
IMG_5136.JPG

Why yes, I am a princess - thanks for noticing!
Connor was not as excited with my new look as I was. He said, "Mom you look ridiculous." I said "Connor you look like a platypus, I can't take your opinion seriously." He had to agree & the tiara was mine!

So next we did some wandering around, soaking it all in (taking pictures!)
I love ToT but I didn't get to ride this trip :( The boys just aren't ready
IMG_5151.JPG

Next it was back to Toy Story Mania to use our fastpasses
IMG_5167.JPG

We made it to Sci-Fi right on time for our ADR
IMG_5210.JPG

IMG_5178.JPG

I love holidays, so naturally we celebrate everything at my house! Chinese New Year, Lincoln's Birthday (which for some reason always involves a hot dog party with sherbet punch) But anyway, we were not going to let a silly thing like my brother not being with us stop us from celebrating his birthday! This is why we choose Sci-Fi, it's one of his favorites. We even sang happy birthday to him!
IMG_5189.JPG

IMG_5193.JPG

Then it was time to head home...
IMG_5208.JPG

One more pic of the hat at night
IMG_5215.JPG

This was probably the only night we were back at a reasonable hour, so I decided to do some laundry while we took a swim. I wish doing laundry at home was as much fun!
Once I was sure the boys were sound asleep, which really doesn't take long in Disney, it was all clear for "the Tooth Fairy" to show up. Here's what we had discussed earlier that day... Tinker Bell is in charge of teeth in WDW, so it was she who would be leaving the loot under the pillow. Ah, another point I forgot to mention - Connor does not let the Tooth Fairy take his teeth. She is only allowed a chip from each, but then they go in a lunchbox - a traveling tooth museum of sorts. So there was a little concern that lines were crossed & Tink would make off with his chopper! Luckily I was able to assure him that would not happen. In the morning he was thrilled to find his tooth still in his possession along with a "credit card & tooth coffin"!

Thanks guys! I'm enjoying reliving the trip with the TR! I'm not sure what I will do next to keep it fresh in my head - maybe a TR of the TR! :p

I'm loving this!

I love that your boys felt 'safe' to ride the Haunted Mansion with your dad - how sweet! My daughter still doesn't like to ride with just me, she feels safest when I'm on one side and my husband is on the other, so on we go - all four! of us in one doombuggy! One day, my son will be too big and they'll tell us no, I just know it! :)

Way to go on your son being a great eater. I'm not sure my children would even touch curry!

I have to give you props for doing the swimming late at night with one child already passed out thing. I travel with my kids by myself often, and I think I would have wimped out. Mom of the year award goes to you for sure! :)

I also love all of the special things that keep happening, can't wait to read more!

Oh, thanks! I'm having fun writing it!
My dad is the best - he still makes me feel safe! :D I am laughing thinking about the 4 of you all trying to squish into one doombuggy for years to come.
Both boys are pretty adventurous eaters, the older one probably more so. He was at his 1st Indian buffet at about 6 months! Loves spicy - eats salsa with a spoon!
As for the mom of the year nomination, you may change your mind when we get to days 6 & 7. How do you feel about candy for breakfast & keeping a 5 & 7 year old out until 1am? lol! I just feel bad to have to hold one back because the other one doesn't want to do something. I try my best to always come to some compromise, sometimes it's not that easy - but as you can see I'm pretty creative!

Day 5- Epcot Finally!!!
but 1st a few pics of POP on the way to get some breakfast...
IMG_5239.JPG

I always say I want to explore the resort and take pictures of everything, but I never get around to it - so I only have pictures of the 60s buildings and the lobby
IMG_5240.JPG

I know a lot of people say their kids don't like Epcot, but my boys love it so we were all excited to finally be there!!
IMG_5247.JPG

and it was Food and Wine - so even better!!
IMG_5248.JPG

The beginning of our future (and yes I'm wearing my tiara again)
IMG_5261.JPG

enough power for a city the size of Paris
IMG_5269.JPG

Spent a bit of time in Innoventions East and West
Great Piggy Bank Adventure - aren't they the cutest piggies in the world??
and who doesn't enjoy smashing a sledge hammer into a tv?
IMG_5271.JPG

then we have to go to Club Cool & no, we don't drink the Beverly!
Connor likes the Krest, Finn - Smart Watermelon & for me, the Mezzo Mix! I wish I could get these at home!!
IMG_5283.JPG

Then we decided to head to World Showcase and save the rest of Future World for later.

past the cranberry bog
IMG_5286.JPG

To pick up our F.O.N.E for Agent P -
IMG_5288.JPG

a good agent always checks to make sure he isn't being followed
IMG_5292.JPG

I had never done Kim Possible, so I can't compare but the Agent P version is really great! The boys really "got into" the missions and couldn't wait to do as many countries as they could!
IMG_5293.JPG

Gran Fiesta Tour
IMG_5316.JPG

then some lunch at La Cantina
IMG_5324.JPG

We had never eaten here, but we love Mexican food and it was pretty good. I ended up ordering 3 different meals and then splitting them among us.
IMG_5327.JPG

At first I was a little sad we couldn't find a table outside, but inside is really pretty and the AC is good so it all worked out.

Wow I totally love your trip report. When me and my Mom visit we bounce from one park to usually Epcot for dinner, so it is especially awesome to see the pics of each park at opening, as well as sunset in the same spots. Thanks for sharing your amazing trip, as it truly has been filled with so many special moments, the ones that set Disney apart from just about everywhere else in the World:)

I am also from New Jersey, close to Seaside Heights. We were lucky enough to only lose power, and not more destructive damage. Our trip began on November 6th so we weren't even sure we would be able to go to the World due to Sandy.

South Jersey got hit hard! It was so sad seeing all the pictures of the boardwalk in seaside! I spent so much time there since I was little. Hopefully they will rebuild!
Glad you were able to get out! We left on the 1st, so we were really unsure what was going to happen. I was pretty determined though & I think I would have walked if it came to it! :p

Yes my brother had to work during our trip so he was able to stay home and manage the damage as it occurred. The snow storm occurred while we were at the World, and we lost power for longer time than we did from the hurricane. Just a crazy situation for everyone, as we met so many people from NJ during our trip. everyone had their own sad story of how they and their loved ones had been affected. It is hard to imagine that Sandy was a category 1, and Katrina was a 5. Pretty scary to think of the damage that could have been only worse.
