Trip Report That’s No Moon... ***Completed***

With so many great TRs in progress right now I am *almost* hesitant to start another. Especially since mine will have so many similarities to others.

Like @Darstarr I got a new phone.

Like @Doc Disney I needed a break from difficult year in healthcare.

Like @k8einwdw well, you’ll see...

Day 3- March 9th continued:

For a guy that detests crowds and shopping DH sure does love Disney Springs. 🤷🏻‍♀️

After we freshened up DH wanted to head to DS for dinner. We went to the Morimoto Street Food QS- just like last trip. But no complaints from me. It was excellent again.

In retrospect I wish we had went to the actual Morimoto but DH wasn’t ready for a regular restaurant experience yet.

We then began our walk around DS. We didn’t check the virtual wait times but the physical Gideon’s line looked too crazy. Perhaps next time.

DH commented that next time we’ll be need to order 3 cookies. Based on cookie size I don’t think so. 😂

The only store we went inside was Basin. We bought a ton of shampoo bars. So much that I pondered if it was too extravagant. DH assured me that all things considered with a Disney trip, the shampoo cost was not a big deal.

We saw this sweet LEGO display for DVC and there was no DVC rep in sight so we could look undisturbed.

For dessert we settled on Amorette’s. The selection wasn’t as full during my previous visits. No crepes. 😕 I think DH got some sort of tart and I got an eclair. We got them to go.

After a bit more walking we headed back to CSR for more walking.

CSR is such a beautiful resort. 😍

Then back to the room to eat our desserts and watch TV.

We don’t have cable so on vacation we tend to soak up trashy tv. This trip DH discovered some reality show about surviving the wilderness but you’re also naked. It- like most reality tv, was morbidly fascinating.

Miles: 8.6

Naked and afraid? I know a woman that was on that show! I never can get into shows like that.

That sounds about right. Wow. You know one tough lady. I would probably quit within the first 10 minutes after seeing one weird bug or snake.

I don’t think I’d care to watch like an entire season of it but it fits the bill for our typical hotel tv watching. Odd reality shows or one of those hgtv type shows.

Day 4- March 10th:

Oops. Looking at the time stamps on those CSR photos it appears they were from the morning this day, not the previous evening. Oh well…

I can’t remember what I had for breakfast this morning. Perhaps that contributed to events later in the morning but I’m sure I ate something. DH got a parfait and decaf from the Barcelona Lounge. I tried the café bombon. It was ok. A little too sweet for my liking.

We strolled around CSR for a bit and then drove to DHS. We parked there and then headed towards our true destination of the morning- Epcot.

Had to take a rest at the Boardwalk. 😴

The world-famous WDW ladder was up early and already hard at work:

There was a slight line at the IG but we were in WS by about 1015am.

It was one of this mornings where we felt like the only people in the park. We just meandered in the pavilions.

DH humored me by taking a picture of me in Morocco.

Day 4- March 10th continued:

Made it around WS and into FW.

Time for a bathroom stop. I wanted a snack stop as well but the food booths didn’t open for another 10-15 min.

The wait time for SE wasn’t great but wasn’t too bad so we got in line.

I really hope this wasn’t my last view of this mural:

As we neared boarding SE I started to feel not so good. Like the “I should have eaten something 10 minutes ago” sort of feeling.

homer simpson award GIF

Mid-ride I decided to break Disney/Covid law. I ate a mini-Cliff from my purse and felt a bit better.

I was a little disappointed to have my last potential ride of SE in its current form colored by not feeling well.

After SE it was time for more food.

From the booth near TT:

Fried cinnamon roll bites. Really good. DH got the corned beef hash.

From near Germany:

Toasted pretzel bread with ham and gruyere. It was just ok.

We waited for a cavalcade to pass before started walking again. While I think they were a nice idea the cavalcades just weren’t our thing. It was nice to have the little musical to get out of the way though.

A visit to the Rat bathrooms:

Day 4- March 10th continued:

Now that we were reenergized it was onto the Land.

DH declined a ride on Soarin’ but declining LwtL is never an option.

501CB4C2-B2BE-402C-835B-5EC1D222C98F.jpeg

On our way out of Epcot we stopped by the Events building between the Canada and UK pavilions.

I had some frozen lemonade while looking longingly at the maple bacon stout. (I know gimmicky flavored craft beers are usually terrible but a stout sounded really good.)

DH had Beet Profiteroles. He was really impressed with them. I didn’t even try them. To me beets just taste like dirt. Or what I think dirt would taste like. I can’t recall actually eating dirt.

We left Epcot out the IG. All things considered we didn’t eat all that much festival stuff this trip. A lot of it sounded good but either we weren’t hungry or the lines were too long etc.

Took the Skyliner back to DHS. I really enjoy it. I think DH is warming up to it. He’s a lot more iffy on heights than he’ll admit.

8399E316-C628-41F0-B763-CB6F40C71BAA.jpeg

We scanned in to DHS with one goal in mind to ride MMRR. It was our longest wait of the trip but luckily mostly outside and with line neighbors who maintained distance. I can’t remember the posted wait but we were done with the ride after 50 min.

At a certain point in the pregnancy one of the weekly tips/reminders was no “herky-jerky dancing”. This has amused us to no end since we’re not dancers at all and don’t even know what exactly herky-jerky dancing would entail.

This was another ride that I had to to assure DH it was ok for me to ride. Especially since it was new to me.

Not to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t ridden yet but at a certain point DH turned to me and exclaimed, half-serious “This is herky-jerky dancing!” :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

I thought MMRR was cute and liked the trackless system. Can’t wait to see the pre-show next time to put it more in context.

We had dinner at the Backlot Express.

DH had the Tatooine 2 Suns Hummus and I had the kids chicken tenders meal.

7462AA5C-98F0-4B7A-BF61-A2637BE636A0.jpeg

Time for another bathroom stop. DH and I almost got separated by a Disney Junior cavalcade. The adults around us were going wild for the Fancy Nancy theme song.

54DA9D7E-6E8C-4262-9CB4-B6C142D57F80.jpeg

One last ride at DHS- TSMM. The spinning around made me a little nervous but it wasn’t verboten so I figured it would be fine.

EB400E57-58A8-4752-9C7C-2F076C1B3A2E.jpeg

We left DHS about 5:30 but didn’t head back to CSR. One simply doesn’t go to bed early on a final Disney night…

Herky-jerky dancing is what Alien Swirling Saucers is! I remember holding my belly on Toy Story Mania when the track goes quickly around corners, but those Aliens had me bracing myself with my feet and just hoping it didn't send me into early labor!

Yeah I was really surprised that Alien Swirling Saucers was deemed as preggo-safe. I chose not to ride it- I can’t believe that amount of whipping around is ok but a bumpy car ride safari isn’t… 🤷🏻‍♀️TSM and MMRR were about at my max comfort level for jostling.

Glad someone else feels the same way I do about beets! They taste like dirt! Sour dirt. If you've ever eaten a vegetable that wasn't quite entirely cleaned, that's what beets taste like. So nasty. I avoid them at all costs.

Day 4- March 10th continued:

Our final destination for this trip was of course MK.

Overall I quite enjoyed driving to the parks this trip and found it to be relatively easy. The exception of course was MK.

Especially on a multi-park day the extra time/distance from parking to the park was tiring.

This time we chose to take the monorail from TTC.

Ok. Ok. The new castle colors did look nice in the setting sun:

First stop was the bathrooms by the Teacups.

303167BE-F3EA-4296-8557-075F29E6053A.jpeg

Then off to meander and look for a snack. I really wish Cheshire Cat Tails were for sale all day.

Got to chance to walk through the castle and check out my favorite mosaic.

Made a stop to see the Tiki birds.

E931E028-C69E-48EE-A76D-D2B63C0B5A6F.jpeg

Then we split a raspberry swirl from Aloha Isle and ate it nearby. 👍 (but citrus swirl is still the best) Eventually I’ll ride the Magic Carpets but not this trip. 😂

28EBD63E-B040-463A-8242-CCF1ED72D56A.jpeg

My snack compartment still wasn’t full so we ended up in the Hub and I got a churro. DH didn’t have any- he thinks they are gross. What a weirdo. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️Oh well. More churro for me.

We took some pics in the Hub. (Looking back I wish I had taken some bump pics here and more in general this trip but alas I didn’t.)

Left MK before closing. 😕 We were tired and had an early departure the next day.
Back to the TTC via monorail again. And then back to CSR for packing and a few hours of sleep.

Our flight departed at 6:15am so we were up pretty early.

Goodbye CSR! I was very happy with our visit and would gladly stay here again.

Took this pic in case there were issues with the rental car with gas/miles etc. On the penultimate day of the trip the check engine light came on and I may have pretended not to see it. 😬 Luckily nothing ever came of it.

The airport was uneventful. DH likes to rush to the gate and hurry up and wait. Unfortunately it was so early that there wasn’t any food open in our gate area. 😕 Eventually the Starbucks opened up and I was able to cram in some food before we boarded.

The flight was more crowded than it appeared online the night before but everyone masked appropriately.

Back at DTW we passed this ridiculously large gum ball machine and made our way back home.
ACCBC88E-780D-4A23-B046-8ECCF60BD8E3.jpeg

The trip was short. And super low-key. (I mean we hardly rode any rides!) It was exactly the sort of trip DH and I needed though. I’m super glad we went. It was so great to have a warm change of scenery and to be able to just walk around outside. And thankfully neither of us caught Covid.

I don’t know when I’ll be able to go to WDW next but I’m already excited to get to experience it in a whole new way- as a party of three. 🥰

Thanks for reading and commenting and all the well wishes.

Now it’s there’s never been a post credit scene in a SW movie but…

Epilogue:

So if my last couple posts seem rushed or incoherent it probably is because I’ve typed them one handed and on very little sleep…

Lil BES arrived June 29th and she’s fantastic. Totally worth all of the years wait to get to meet her. It’s been a wild couple of weeks but we’re all ok now and settling in at home.
