You were very close, Steve! The openning ceremony was on March 17th, 1999. I remember that very well, because it was my bf´s birthday... Saint Patrick´s day. I also sneaked in the party after work, and saw the ceremony, some artists like Drew Carrey, and the concert of "Earth, Wind and Fire". It was a good open house party.

I know that the unofficial opening was on December 12, 1998. I was there that day.

Me too! I remember we were doing "Holidays Around the World" and after the "Tree Lighting Ceremony", I was escorting the "Three Kings" and we were told that Test Track was open, so all the escorts ran to it and rode it on costume, and with all the Santas from all the countries in WSC! It was so much fun!

Unfortunately, I came back home in December 1999, after 15 months working for the Mouse. I did the Fellowship Program from september 98 to august 99 and then from september to december 99 worked in Guest Relations.

It was awesome.... the Fellowship Program was the best they had for internationals. The trainning you get is almost as extensive as the one they give to the Guest Relations people. Unfortunately, they ended this program this year and there will be no more fellowship ambassadors next september.

I was going back there in March this year to work at the hotels (you can´t do the FP again), but I got a promotion at my present job and decided to put Disney on hold for a while and
sit online instead and join this board to "remember the magic"! hehe ;)

There are a few pics of my group there. :p

On your webpage there is a photo of a guy called Thabo - I spoke to him last week at Animal Kingdom Lodge! :) Do you know him? He was doing a great job!!

Thabo?

Thabo is at the Animal Kingdom? I did not know that. WOW! I guess I'm going to have to make it down there and see him. He was on the Fellowship program and it's good to know that he is doing a great job. He was always a nice guy and always willing to help someone out. Where was he working at? Which department? BTW: How is the AK lodge? Is it all they made it up to be? Similar to the Wilderness Lodge? Food?

Ryan:p

To answer your questions, Ryan, Animal Kingdom Lodge is amazing! The pool is really peaceful. The hot tubs are right beside a savanna overlook. You can look at the animals then take a dip without walking more than about 10 feet! I have not eaten there yet, but I have heard that the buffet is AMAZING. And no, the two "lodge" resorts are NOT the same.

REALLY?

Swim and then walk 10 feet and see animals? WOW! I could do that when I lived at the Commons and Vista Way. (and they didn't charge me $300 a night) *wink*
