Thanks. We're really picky about bathrooms. We like privacy but want to be able to get ready at the same time. Plus I like to have one sink that no one else is allowed to use (they splash too much!) The division makes it so much easier.
We're the same. My wife, daughter, and I will have the room with two queen beds and that bathroom 100% to ourselves in a two bedroom villa. My parents will have the king bed and my sister will be on the pull out but using their bathroom. We split it 50/50 with my parents.

@helenabear , can you explain this a little more please? Are you saying that the layout of the villas differs depending on what building you are in? I want to book a 1 bedroom and I like the bathrooms the way they are set up at Boardwalk Villlas. From diagrams I've seen I thought the bathrooms in the 1BR at OKW were the same. The layout that I like has the bathroom divided into two parts by a door. Each part is also accessible by a second door. One part has the large tub and a sink with vanity counter. The other part has a walk in shower, toilet, and a pedestal sink. Can you please describe the different possible bathroom layouts in the 1BR at OKW?
It's not the layout, but where the doors are to get in. In the original OKW buildings you could only get to the bathroom via the bedroom door. In the newer there was the door through the laundry to get in. This is 1 beds only. 2 beds are different by a little. That said the door to the bedroom really opens more to the bathroom than the bedroom. So it isn't like you are walking into people sleeping.

Attached.

I think 62, 63, and 64 are the handicap accessible ones.
62-64 have elevators. HA rooms are throughout

One more question. Looking at the map of OKW in the Unofficial Guide, I see all of the roads that connect the resort. Is there much traffic? Are there sidewalks? Is the entire property pedestrian friendly? We've only stayed at Disney resorts that are more or less one main building (YC, BC, BWI, WL) and the cars are restricted to a large lot.

Thank you guys.
You want a building number 30 or higher.
Thank you! I guess I am going to call and see if I can make that number one request. It would just be awkward at night, for us if someone had to go to bathroom, thru master bedroom door. I had no idea from the areas what to choose this morning.

A few cars but mostly buses. Sidewalks, and fairly wide ones, are everywhere. Extremely pedestrian friendly.

45 and 46 have great views of the river and they're far from any road noise. A bit of a walk to the bus though.

Just request South Point or Old Trurtle Pond. Or a building with an elevator. As I said though the one door does NOT open to the bedroom, but the bathroom instead. Right in front of the tub. You must turn left from there to get to the master. There is only a doorway from bathroom to bedroom in all 1beds and above. Edit: in the master area. The 2 beds have a bathroom door in the 2nd bedroom

We are 1 br. I need to look at layout again, I thought it opened right into bedroom. Thank you for answering my questions and thanks to original poster, again for making a thread. :)

Any more questions feel free to ask. We've stayed there a bunch (own there too lol)

Just to help with the layout. I took a picture from online and added to it. The red is where the door in the buildings 30 and above would be. In 29 and below that door isn't there.

The green line shows where the door to the master suite is. The door opens inward towards the direction of the master bedroom, but in reality you are walking into the bathroom. Walk straight ahead and you run into the tub. You have to walk around the door to get to the master bedroom.

Oddly when we stayed in a 1 bedroom at BCV my son kept walking through the main door to get to the bathroom. Not a big deal, but that door didn't help. When we were in building 46 with someone on the couch in the living area, the person with us kept accidentally going through the wrong door too and we never noticed. It's a bit more private that the diagram shows IMO.

Do OKW buildings have a mix of 1-2 bedrooms and studios? We are thinking we might need a 2 br and a studio and wondered if they could be in same area.

Yes, there are a mix of all types everywhere. Some 2 bedrooms are dedicated and some are a studio and 1 bed together. You will need to get the reservations linked and have it marked as traveling together. I have had decent luck getting linked rooms fairly close together.

Yes. Most two bedroom villas are just a one bedroom villa plus a studio.
Actually over half of OKW's 2 bedrooms are dedicated 2 beds and not lock offs. 274 dedicated vs 230 lock offs. BWV and AKV Jambo only have lock offs. The rest are an even mix.

I wonder why Disney would have any dedicated 2 bedrooms at all. I know they're slightly different floor plans, but it seems like the inventory flexibility would be much more valuable.

Do you know if there's a trick to getting a dedicated 2 bedroom as a cash guest? My understanding is that it's a specific booking category for DVC members but that's not the case for the rest of us.

The design of the dedicated 2 bedrooms is different. The laundry is set up in a slightly different angle at OKW. At places like BCV, there are 2 real beds instead of a queen and a pull out. I know they did skip it in BWV (dedicated 2 bedroom) and that was the third resort built - they did not repeat that idea (except with the conversion of rooms at Jambo house) so maybe it didn't sell well?

The biggest difference is the dedicated rooms do NOT have the exterior entrance/exit. That can be big for those with young ones or those who want to try to sneak in/out.

Historically speaking studios go first. They are the lowest point cost so everyone wants them. That would leave many who want 2 beds out and a slew of just 1 bedrooms available. This way you get the choice in layouts and choice in number of exterior doors. We are lucky that we like 2 bedrooms because the dedicated are only 2nd to go after the studios.

I cannot even guess how you get the dedicated 2 bedroom as a cash guest. I only do regular DVC bookings. In two resorts they don't exist either so if you ever book at Jambo or BWV you cannot get them at all.
