Tales from the 3rd Clam-mobile (Nemo ride report**WITH VIDEO AND PICS)

Yesterday, my last day on vacation, I was lucky enough to be in the 3rd clam mobile ever of "guests". I got to the park around 8:35 and the walls were down (which I wont go over as there is a long thread about it already but here is my fav video of the seagullshttp://s47.photobucket.com/albums/f183/jeremiah_good/?action=view&current=100_1356.flv) so I hung out till about 11 did Figment then came back just in time to see all the managers at the front entrance saying this is only a test run of it and not to rush.

We were escorted through the queue by a CM named Benji, who seemed VERY excited to be doing this job. He pointed out everything as we walked the queue. The first room is the same queue from Living Seas just with a beach theme here is the signs in the queue.

Then we start to go underwater. I don't remember all the details of the lay out, but the old round theater is still very intact with it being very dark and lots of turnarounds. (sorry it is so dark but a flash would have killed the effect)

Then we head to where the hydrolators used to be where we had the boats above us with the cool ripple effect.

The queue is nice, but very dark not anything that stands out but we walked it very fast. When we reached the load platform all the managers started clapping and taking pics.

The load platform is in a new area, only bad thing about the attraction is you can see the exit so the being transported someplace feel is gone. But the clam mobiles are hard cars with a small door that closes in the front. The moving walk way has rays on it which is great on the theming.

The ride its self is a great dark ride. Each scene flows very fast into each other with out much chance to get lost....if you don't know the basic story is everyone thinks Nemo is lost again, when is is playing more of a hide and seek. The whole gang is there from Mr. Rays class to the angler fish AA (only one in the attraction), which has to be one of the best AA's I have seen when you come up to him he looks like a puppet from the Little Mermaid show it is really cool. The song is a bit forced, and as Peach says it never stops but it is cute. Peach has to be the funnest part of the attraction, she is at the end saying "take me with you please. The song is nice but it never ends...I mean it really never ends."

Overall the attraction is very nice and well done. The technology used to make it seem like Nemo and friends are in the tank hits is mark, I have been hearing how it will look like they are in the tank for years and always had my doubts, but it is really amazing. This will be a sure fire hit with kids and adults alike. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

And now for the first time ever above ground....a VERY dark ride on Nemos undersea adventures.....

I know it is an omnimover system - but does it stop for load and unload? I ask because my father will be with us this weekend and he has some mobility issues.

It does not stop, they might have a crawl mode where it slows more, but I don't think it will stop. The load/unload were very long so he should not have a big problem. Also the clam mobiles never change direction. The always faced the same way.

I've been really skeptical of the Nemo characters being "in" the tanks as well. But it sounds like it turned out awesome! Can't wait to see it in Nov.! Thanks for the report!

First off, thanks for the report! Nice work!

But can you (or anyone else) tell me what one is looking at in the part of the ride before the tank, if there's only one AA? Simpler animated figures? Static scenes? Or is that part of the ride so short that it doesn't matter? I'm trying to picture it!

They have a lot of set pieces with small video screens that everyone "swims" in and out of. Most of the scenes have two screens that everyone goes between. They have all the sets from the movie, the coral reef, the subs with bruce and a static hook (was that his name) shark that moves its head in and out. The jelly fish are large moving.... jelly fish? When you get to the tank that is when they start up with the "Big Blue World" and it looks like they are swiming in the tank. The ride is about 4 minutes and 14 secs or so.

The angler fish moves REALLY fast. I just watched the video and I only have him for a few secs. I should have the dark video up soon.

Wow! Congrats on being #3.

I have had my doubts about the Nemo projection into the tank, but I am glad to specifically here you say that it hits the mark. I cannot wait to see it.

Thanks for the report and look forward to pics and video.

Ah, okay, I didn't realize there were video screens in the first part of the ride. Thanks for the explanation!

Big Blue World

The video was good from what I can tell - a good 4 minute dark ride is better than we have been given in a long time....but you better get used to the song "Big Blue World" because if you remember from the press conference from "Finding Nemo - The Musical" that was the song that they sang, so it is nice to see some cross integration there. All in all, I can't wait til Spring Break so I can see it myself!!

The video is... dark ^^
But thanks anyway! So glad to read your report. You said the anglerfish is an AA? So what does he do exactly?
