Tables in Wonderland disappointment

Hello all,

My family and I spent a couple days at Port Orleans last month. We have been going there since it opened, we spent our honeymoon at Dixie Landings in 1992.

Since we moved to FL we have been members of the Disney Dining Experience, now called "Tables in Wonderland".

For years my wife and I would eat at the Dixie food court, my wife loved the taco salad with the edible bowl. I would get either pizza or pasta.

Well, last month during our stay at Dixie we went to the food court for lunch and our Tables in Wonderland card was turned down, the cashier said that they don't take the card. When I asked "since when" she said that "since we have a sit down restaurant". Well, Boatwrights has always been there and they have always taken the card. Not to mention that Boatwrights was CLOSED for lunch!!!!

That stinks, we look to the Tables in Wonderland discount to help with our budget.

Last weekend we stayed at All Stars and saved a ton with the Tables discount.

Let me think about this, stay at a cheaper resort and get my Tables discount on food or stay in a more expensive resort and get no discount, it's a no brainer.

I guess Dixie is not in the cards for us.

Very sad,

Frank :(

Yea, I do not see where TiW is much of a discount for people who do not stay in Value Resorts or if you do not have a large amount of people in your party. I love the card but I stay in the values.

Card used to work at Riverside and French Quarter at food court. But never at Caribbean or Coronado food courts.

That stinks.

I think you got an untrained CM. If the restaurant is Disney owned, they will take TIW. When Disney owned restaurants stop doing this? TIW will become worthless. Check with the TIW folks on this one - I suspect they will be appaled & do something about it.
Not all Disney owned restaurants take Tables In Wonderland. Pecos Bills in Magic Kingdom, for instance, does not. Anyways, here are the locations in Port Orleans that do take it...

Port Orleans Resort
Riverside:
Boatwright's Dining Hall
River Roost

French Quarter:
Scat Cat's Club
Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory

My understanding is that Disney sit down restaurants take TIW. Since the values do not have a sit down, their QS's take TIW, so I guess I understand what the CM said, but I do not know when Riverside stopped taken the card.

The QS at POFQ does take TIW as they do not have TS, so when stay at Riverside, if it is worth the extra walk or boat ride, you can use TIW.

That is one of the reasons we try to stay at FQ when we stay at a MOD.

Outside of the values at FQ, I think the only QS that takes TIW is Flame Tree at AK.

There are some oddball things that happen with the TIW, for example the indoor bar at AKL takes TIW, the poolside bar does not.

I never hurts to ask if a place takes it, but the general rule is sit down places take it, QS / food court does not. Of course there are exceptions, but thats why they have lists :)

It was most likely improperly-trained and/or rule-bending CMs that gave them the discount in the past. Both Riverside and French Quarter are staffed from the same group of CMs. On any given day, a CM could be assigned to work at either resort. So a CM could be working a register in the French Quarter food court one day, and Riverside's the next. And then they're accepting the discount at one location, but not the other. I could easily see how CMs could get confused or not trained properly about the discount.

Since I've known of the existence of DDE/TiW, the food court at Riverside has never been on the official list of locations that give the discount. (Though I'll admit I didn't really pay much attention until they extended it to AP-holders, which I believe was after the Port Orleans name change and the closure of the table service location at French Quarter)

What does QS stand for? We always call it a food court.

I guess I can still stay at POFQ and use my discount there, I am really happy with the value resorts, I'll probably stick with them.

Staying at Pop Century on Oct. 24th for the ToT 13k. Can't wait!!!!
