Trip Report May 17th - May 24th
SATURDAY MAY 17th
Arrived at the Airport at 5:30 to catch our flight at 7:35. Checked our bags in and spent a whopping total of about 3 minutes getting through the security checkpoint. In Houston, this is quite an accomplishment. Flight took off right on time and in 1hour and 33 minutes we were on the ground in Orlando. 15 minutes early. A good way to get to spend a little extra time in Florida. Made our way over to the Disney Magical Express counter and after about 10 minutes there, we got in line for our charter bus. I think this was our longest wait so far. Got on the bus and set right up front behind the driver and when we arrived, we were the first ones through the doors to the check in counter. Got checked in right away and went to our room and got rid of our little bit of carry on things, took the camera and headed for the food court, where we bought a couple of mugs and then set out to roam about the hotel and take pictures. Headed to DD, in what we wore on the flight, since 5 hours wasn’t long enough for our luggage to make it to the Pop. Had dinner at Planet Hollywood and did a little shopping, then headed back to the room so we could get up and get at it bright and early. Our luggage made it to the room sometime before we returned.
SUNDAY MAY 18th
Got up bright and early and made our way to breakfast and then to the bus for the ride to AK. Got there plenty early, and when they opened the park, we made our way to KS. Got on right away and got some excellent shots of the animals. There were probably more out this time than we have seen in any of our previous trips. From here we went to EE and rode it three times in a 20 minute span. The crowds were extremely light, up until about noon.
After this we made our way towards the Kali River Rapids. Oh yeah, we had to stop and get a frozen mocha on the way over. By now the wait time was about 20 minutes for the ride. After getting a little wet (soaked), we did a little walking. Saw ITTBAB and then went to Camp Minnie-Mickey and watched FoTLK. This was the first time we had ever seen this and it was wonderful. Made our way out to the bus and went back to the resort for a little lunch, and then we were on our way to MK for the EMH.
Went in and rode HM, then while we were right there, we got on the Riverboat and took the little cruise around Tom Sawyer Island. Made our way to BTMRR and then over to Splash Mountain so that we could get wet one more time. Made our way over towards Casey’s Corner, grabbed a dog, and found us a spot for SpectroMagic and Wishes. Got some really nice shots of the fireworks. Afterwards we walked to Toon Town and did a little more shopping and spending. Lasted until about 12:30 and then made our way out to the bus for the ride back to the resort. Finally made it to the bed at around 2:00AM.
More to come as I get time…………….
