The cast has been announced - notables include Jeff Kent (retired MLB 2nd Baseman - played for the Mets and the Dodgers, among others) and Lisa Whelchel (Blair from the Facts of Life!). There will also be 3 returning castaways who have not yet been revealed - anyone hear anything on who they will be?

This year, there will be fifteen newbies featured on Survivor. That means that the remaining three contestants will be returning after appearing on the hit reality show in past seasons. According to the latest rumors, one of those contestants will be the infamous Mike Skupin. A contestant during the Australian Outback season, Skupin managed to fall into a campfire. His injuries were severe enough to ensure his departure from the competition. Will he make it through this year without any horrendously stupid and life-threatening mistakes?

Russell Swan (from the Samoa season) and Jonathan Penner (Cook Islands and Micronesia) will also be returning to the show. Jonathan Penner has been on Survivor multiple times and at this point, is probably the contestant fans most love to hate. Russell Swan, like Mike Skupin, had to be evacuated. In Swan’s case, the medical emergency involved a swiftly-plunging heart rate.

Lisa Whelchel was also on the cast of the New Mickey Mouse Club in the late '70s. She is in dark green in the first pic.

Kent should make things interesting. He wasn't very popular with his teammates when he played major league baseball. He was also a rumored steroid user.

I've watched since the first season and I had to Google Russel Swan. I had no remembrance of him by name. After seeing the picture, I do remember him on the show, but don't really remember his playing in the game. I guess "Russell" is reserved for Hantz in my brain.

I do hope Penner goes far. He was entertaining, just made a stupid switch during his season. Hope Mike does well too, after what he went through.

Penner sounds eerily like Alan Alda. It was confirmed today that the three returning players are Penner, Swan, and Skupin. There will be three tribes.
