I'm imagining government officials in Fiji watching this and just going, what the heck - they're just dumping their old challenges into our oceans now?!

Kyle really should have toned down his personal story. Between that and challenge strength no one wanted him anywhere near the finale. Kenzie was smart in that she highlighted her charitable side at final tribal council but didn't bring it up in a way prior that would have raised her threat level.

It wouldn't have necessarily made a difference but it's a flaw in his game.

Oh, but back to the game... I was so sad to see Kyle go.
Sue is definitely being brought along just for the easy, no chance third person in the final. It was even stated as much by at least one of the players (I forget who).
I wonder if the all-girl alliance that we saw in the preview will actually hold and work? I have my doubts. Rachel and Genevie I think will be seen as strong and I predict one of them gets the next blind-side.

There was a lot of debate on this in the Survivor online community this week. I agree with you, that it's shots in the dark. Just like you'd say brothers-in-law. However, an English teacher said Jeff said it right. He said if it's hyphenated, it's all one noun, so you add the s to the end. That is totally not what I've heard my entire life. Just because something sounds awkward doesn't make it wrong. I think Stephen pointed out that saying "Everybody's shot in the dark" sounds better because the pluralization happens with the descriptor.

"Shot in the dark" is a specific thing, it's more than one word. Hence, Shots in the dark doesn't make sense to me. That strikes me as a different meaning for shot when the word is separated from the thing as a whole.

I do enjoy these most trivial of trivial debates sometimes.

WHOA!!!!! That move was incredible. I felt like Andy had to be stirring something up, based on his edit and the content he's gotten all season long, but that was great. A minority of 3 managed to pull off a blindside on a majority of 4 that had an idol and a block-a-vote. That's absolutely crazy manipulation to not have at least the block-a-vote used defensively. All three players did their part. It's not quite the Black Widows with Erik, but it was very similar in how everyone had to play their part. Wow. That was so much fun. There hasn't been a move like that in a LONG time. Maybe Tony's extortion episode in Winners at War, but this had a higher level of orchestration to pull it off.

I'm not sure how I focus on anything else, but let's try...

I'm not sure it's ever a good idea to win the family/letters reward. You always upset someone. That may be why they kept the letters a secret until after the challenge. People will strategically not try to keep themselves in the good graces of everyone.

That being said, Teeny's reaction was way over the top. I really soured on Teeny this episode. It started with the conversation with Genevieve. Genevieve was absolutely right in everything she said to Teeny. It wasn't a threat, it was honesty. Rachel will beat Teeny. Teeny didn't like hearing that, so they became combative. Genevieve accurately said Teeny uses people's emotions as a weapon. And that's so true.

Speaking of Genevieve, she's fantastic at confessionals. One of the best in a long time. She is concise, interesting, and funny. She is able to articulate her thoughts so well. She's the mold of a Kim or Parvati. Very charming. She's my favorite archetype of player and one that I definitely would get blindsided by if I were playing with.

Sam's threat level doesn't equal what he's actually accomplished. He hasn't done a whole lot since the merge, but he's viewed as a threat because of his appearance.

Andy just boosted his winner's equity sky-high, but also put a major target on his back. The comment from the jury was interesting, though. Sierra and Sol commented how he flipped "again". It almost makes me wonder if they won't respect that. I think Sierra views him as a weasel, and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out, should be make the final tribal council.

Rachel holds a lot of power yet, with an idol and block-a-vote. The block-a-vote can single-handedly get her, Sue, and Teeny to the final five. Then she can play her idol and put herself in the final 4, at least guaranteeing herself fire-making. Sue could also play her idol to make the final four.

Here's how I think the final 6 and 5 could shake out. At least, this is what would make the most sense for the underdog alliance. Not sure why they'd do anything differently if they're playing smart.

At final 6: Rachel plays a block-a-vote. Rachel, Sue, Teeny vote out Andy/Genevieve/Sam.

At final 5: Rachel and Sue play their idols. If Rachel wins immunity, she plays he idol for Teeny. They vote out Andy/Genevieve/Sam.

Also, with Andy's move, I think Genevieve's chances of winning have increased. Andy becomes a big target. It seems they wanted Sam out ahead of Genevieve anyway. So could Genevieve go from target #1 to target #3? That would be huge for her.

I'm so excite for the end game after this episode. This is why I love Survivor.

Best episode in a long time and totally correct about Teeny.

I was so afraid that the Operation: Italy would fail because the editing showed so much of the planning and execution, with lots of doubt about its success. It was so cool to see it actually work! Definitely one of my favorite episodes to watch just because of that move.

The fake idol was such a key to the plan. And, to show it to Teeny, and then have to hide it quickly as someone was coming... priceless moment to watch!

And great thinking to not panic when Rachel won immunity, and pivot to Caroline. Granted, she was not likely to win, but at least they recognized the importance to equal the two sides.

So many ways the plan could have failed, including Sue playing her idol for Caroline. I was sure that was going to happen. And Rachel was dumb for not playing the block a vote. She could have orchestrated the split vote as Andy convinced them to do, and played her block a vote against any of the three. Worst case scenario then would be a tie. She would then know about Andy's vote and it would be easy for the four to vote off either Genevieve or Sam.

I think this one move puts Andy at the top in terms of a jury vote. I think he can share how his vote was not a flip, but part of the plan he came up with and how he was able to also get the four to split their votes. What a move!

Teeny... truth hurts. She thought way too much of herself if she thought she had a chance to win against Rachel.

Sue is... just along for the ride. She's going to be a mess having lost Caroline when she could have saved her.

Rachel and Genevieve are still top contenders, with Andy rounding out the top three. But, I think one of these three will be voted out in the next tribal. My prediction is that Rachel will try to get Andy out, still assuming Genevieve has an (fake) idol. Rachel will be able to use her block a vote to get the vote to be 3-2. Then, in the final round, Rachel will be able to play her idol to be safe, and Genevieve will be voted out. Rachel will be the strongest remaining player and will win it all.

The use of a vote split with a one-vote margin to flip the script is the move Survivor nerds like us live for.

The fact that no one saw the threat coming and didn't block a vote is pretty crazy. When else do you use it other than when you have a one vote margin? Rachel being immune may have stopped her from deciding to make a defensive move. The good news is she avoided doing something that would have raised her threat level even higher.

It seems likely that Rachel loses at fire or wins it all.

Andy still seems to be disregarded by the jury, but there's a real chance of an Andy, Teeny, Sue final three, at which point we could see the ultimate underdog story win out.

Then that person (winning an Oscar performance) actually votes for Andy and Rachel blocks Andy's vote and boom he's gone. I can't imagine Andy NOT being the next target.

I wonder how solid Rachel-Sue-Teeny are.

Sue's probably not going to be a target so she probably won't need to use it. But she should play it at the final 5 anyway.

I would put my money on Rachel, too. It's hard to see Genevieve winning, but I do think her odds went up after Andy threw his name in as a potential target. Sam could win, but I think he'd be one of the worst new-era winners, unless does something in the next couple votes. I still worry that the jury will see Andy as a flipper, and they won't get past their perception of him.
