Barry,

I've downloaded a bunch of your TDL stuff over the years (and the Paris Stunt Show) previously. Thanks for the good resource. :D

I do have a question for you - Journey to the Center of the Earth. We hear how amazing this ride is, but from the video it looks like a total "snoozefest". Granted the proper way to judge an attraction is to experience it, but the video makes it like there isn't much going on, besides seeing the Lava Monster for a few sconds at the end.

Or is it just me?

kevin, i have always thought the same thing. i found his site somehow a while back and when i viewed that video (at the time the rumor about the attraction coming to AK was hot) i laughed at how boring it looked. i was like "great, ride in a tin bucket down and get attacked by a lava monster" wake me up for the lava monster.

but i guess you are right. we should only judge if we have riden it first hand. i just have to get the money to go over there. lol

Hi guys,

I have to admit it's not at all an adrenalin rush of a ride but the themeing and environment are amazing. The only fast bit as you are aware is after the lava monster but the rush is pretty cool as you spiral up through the mountain and the drop is very fast. The finer details are everywhere during the ride (no cardboard cut out's here!!!).

I suppose you have to take it in context of the overall 'land'. I like it a lot but the video is quite dark so it's hard to take everything in.

It's funny but it induces screams just like Splash does during the drop!!! I found myself staring at the drop for ages just enjoying that just as I would Splash in WDW!!!! (Sad!)

Maybe that is what took me aback initially. But is there as much interesting stuff to see and admire as Splash Mountain? I know they are completely different rides, but Splash is the perfect example IMNSHO of a ride with the complete package. Music, story, interesting set pieces, fun, mild thrills & big thrills.

From watching the JTTCOTE video, I didn't notice anything all that "enticing" until the Lava Monster and drop.

But it is a "dark ride", which are always a favorite of mine. I'm mainly judging the ride based on all the hype. If no one ever talked about it and I saw the video, I would have thought, "looks cool, hopefully they bring it here". So I'm partly dissecting it from a devil's advocate point of view.

I've gotta say that I've been a fan of the ride ever since I saw the video

The exterior is amazing. I know that if we get JTTCTE we probably won't get the whole Mysterious Island section, which is a shame. But the mountain itself is awe-inspiring.

The queue looks very detailed, and it does a good job of setting up the ride.

The ride itself looks fascinating. Every aspect of it is detailed, and it's probably impossible to take it all in on a single trip. It also appears to have animatronics during the slower portion of the ride, not to mention the huge lava monster. Who knows what other effects the ride really has. There may be smells, blasts of hot or cold, and other things that we can't see on the video.

If we get the ride, I have no idea where it would go. I'm all for the rumored Mysterous Island expansion in the MK.
