Now Disney and Studio Ghibli have a pretty good relationship, and there have been rumors that disney wants to purchase the studio in the future following miyazakis retirement. That being said if you could see any ghibli movie become an attraction or land what would you like to see and where. Any attraction based on spirited away or howls moving castle would just about do it for me.

I don't know how accessible the Ghibli product would be to American audiences, as wonderful as the films are. They all have a very Japanese aesthetic, which is of course one reason why they're so awesome. Frankly, I hope Disney is done with purchasing. When Iger leaves, I hope the next leader will pour investment money into DEVELOPMENT OF NEW ORIGINAL ATTRACTIONS for the parks. IMO, that is truly the only way Disney is going to be able to compete with the likes of Universal.

Sorry Hun, I have no idea what "Ghibli" is, but I'm replying so it keeps your post at the top of the forum :D

Have you ever seen spirited away? or Kiki's delivery service? Its the studio that makes all of those films, some recent examples would be ponyo and The secret world of Arrietty.

I think new original attractions would be great too! Its just fun to daydream about these awesome properties and you would be surprised about the popularity of these films!

Well, if "adaptation" is a concern, they could always do it in the Japan pavilion at Epcot. That way if American Audiences don't get it...they can chalk it up to being in "World Showcase". With the available imagery though, I could easily seeing some fantastic attractions come from any of their properties.

I agree think of a howls moving castle attraction where you get into something resembling the castle towards the end of the film and he enchants it so it begins to walk, or walking right in front of the bath house from spirited away, some of these locations in the films are so beautiful and breathtaking that regardless of whether or not you are familiar with them they would be something that would impress and really have a sort of magic all on their own. I know this is a stretch but instead of avatar land let Princess Mononoke get her forest, the theme fits and at the same time provides the land with a mythical aspect to it. Imagine if walking into the land past the bridge you are greeted by these guys all around the trees.

I would much rather see a Mononuke attraction at Animal Kingdom. They could make the ride part immersive(like ET at Universal)...

Even if they just added a walk through exhibit at the Japan Pavilion, I think it would be a lot of fun. That way, just have animetronics and effects, no ride vehicles required, and a mixture of real and false vegetation.

If many of Disney's audience doesn't even know of Kingdom Hearts they wouldn't blink an eye to this...Which is a real shame..

I wouldn't really compare this to kingdom hearts though, miyazaki's movies are very well known globally they have a quality to them that people recognize. I remember one critic labeling one of his earlier films grave of the fireflies as belonging in the list of the greatest war movies ever made. Spirited away even won an academy award here these films really do have a permanence and they would make great attractions.

Haha!! I think I just didn't "get it", I wasn't sure who the human man with the fish babies was and if he was evil or not! Or Ponyos mother (was it her mother?) and the "dad" had some kind of relationship or what! LOL

I was very confused by the story line! My boys loved it!
