Was the guest from somewhere other than the US?

I've noticed in my international travels, that toilet is used much more frequently on signs than bathroom is.

For example, in a domestic terminal in an airport, the signs will say "bathroom" or "restroom." However, in the international terminal of the same airport, the signs will read "toilet." Toilet seems to be a more recognizable, or at least more easily translated, word for the same thing.

Back when I used to be EVIL, whenever I was asked where the restroom was... I sent them to the farthest one in the park.

A guest was scratching her head in confusion and asked me where test track was in the Studios. She was holding an Epcot map in the middle of the Studios.

Isn't that the one in Tomorrowland at Islands of Adventure???

I think I posted this somewhere on here before but when I was working the Hat cart across from pin central at Epcot I had a boy come up to me (it was storming really bad but was also close to the end of my shift) ask me if the lightening was real.

The lightning is just as real as the snow that sometimes falls in Orlando and WDW in December... actually, EVERY december that I'm in WDW it snows... Kinda freaky, eh?

Stupid questions (At the Studios Tip Board):

Where is Jaws? E.T?

Where is the Castle?

[Guest]What does "Temporary Delay" mean?
[Me] It means Rockin' Rollercoaster is not running right now.
[G] What does THAT mean?!
[M] It's not working right now.
[G]But can we still go on it? What's the wait time?
[M] The ride is not running, sir, so they won't let you on right now - there is no wait time because they aren't letting anyone in line.
[G] What...did someone DIE, or something? When will it be running?
[M]No one is hurt - the ride just isn't working right. It will hopefully be up again later, once they fix it.
[G]When is that?
[M]When they fix it, sir.:brick:

GR Lobby (front of Studios):

Can I get my money back now that it's raining?
(Most of the atractions are indoors, and we have a No Rainchecks policy. I've had people tell me they can't go on anything becasue it's all "closed due to rain" Someone even made me get a manager because he didn't believe me when I told him the Rollercoaster was indoors!)

I also spend a LOT of time changing tickets for people who thought they were at the Magic Kingdom. Some would follow the road signs labeled "Disney/MGM", thinking "Disney" was the same as "Magic Kingdom", and "MGM" was the Disney-MGM Studios, and they were on the same road. Some got off of buses, or just pulled into the first parking lot they found. The funniest/saddest part is that quite a few of these families spend, on average, and hour or more in the park before they realize they can't find the castle, or any of the rides they know "disney" has...

heh... It's HARD. I'm pretty good at staying calm around guests, but we can vent in our breakroom. I yell at my co-workers A LOT:lol:

I've gotten better at keeping my cool.

Once you see they're really that ignorant you tend to just let it roll off.

My first month.. that was a different story.. lots of ranting in the breakroom.

My favorite is when guests at the TTC ask how to get to "MGM Grand". If I told them how to get there for real ("Take a Mears Shuttle to Orlando International and catch the next flight to Las Vegas") they probably wouldn't appreciate it too much...

I also love it when they are standing in line for the Epcot monorail with signs everywhere that state Epcot Monorail, and ask...Does this go to MGM?

I had a fellow yell at me for not letting him into the theater to watch the CandleLight processional. The previous show had just ended and we were cleaning out the place and preparing the theater for the next batch of guests. He started yelling at me that he wanted in at that moment and huffed and puffed about if for 5 minutes. Well I told him that I would let him in as soon as everything was clear and he started pouting! He told me that he didn't want to see the show anymore and he wanted to go back to the resort. I was offering him best seats and all and he still pouted and said he wanted to go back to the resort?!?! In the end, he shelled out $120 (for 4 people) for a dinner package to the show and he never watched the show. I seriously thought that was foolish!

I've had similar arguments with guests about Fantasmic - they wait until showtime to get in, then they can't believe that it's been full for half an hour, and that the "good" seats were claimed 2 hours ago. It got so bad with one woman, who DEMANDED that she and her family be let into the theatre, that a manager (from Fantasmic, not one of ours!) took her and her family up the back way, to the FULL ampitheatre, and told her "There...now YOU can go ask one of these nice folks to have their family leave so yours can sit down". He says she didn't say a word until they had walked back to the lobby, where we happily wrote her a file so she could come back to see the show another night (which we had offered to do BEFORE she demanded to see a manager).
The moral here? BE POLITE, and ASK for what you need, within reason...you'll get your way (much more quickly, too)...
