Storm Force Accelatron

Hi All

I need some help! I'm in the middle of setting up a web site selling attraction tickets, for Orlando, UK, Spain, Australia, etc.

I was working on a page about IOA and writing up a piece on each ride. When I discovered an entire ride I'd never noticed while at IOA. So what exactly is STORM FORCE ACCELATRON?

It sounds like a the tea cup ride from MK.

Could someone confirm what it is.

Cheers

Yep, it's a teacup ride...same thing...some effects like strobe lights...but in essence...just a teacup ride.

(although...it was cool during HHN :) )

(it's next to Hulk coaster...set back a little bit)

Ye, with the X-Men movie being bigger than they anticipated and the X-Men 2 about to hit the screens, plus the current trend for Super Hero movie's e.g. Dare Devil, Hulk, Wonder Woman (if it ever comes out) you would think IOA would really play this one up... even if it was s Super Hero parade or something... The parades always seem really popular.

The marketing men have no idea what we want! Sorry that's sexist... marketing people.

Actually, I was talking about the comics. I don't see MSHI as a comercial for the movies, but a homage for Stan Lee's creations that have inspired and entertained for decades. The X-Men were famous way before the movies, and they deserved a better attraction.

But yeah, the movies should definately be the extra push needed.

I would love to see an Xmen attraction...talk about dropping the ball when it came to building an attraction based on them. Twister would've been a better "Storm" attraction

You have to understand why and under what conditions they built it. It was built to be a cheap boost to the family attractions. They build a fun ride and accomplished their goal. The only problem with this attraction is that it should be enclosed and incorporate more weather like effects such as wind and light rain. This would not only increase the excitement of the ride, but also draw more people in the line because they don't know exactly what it is.

It just seems that IoA has a lot of "hi tech" attractions...and this falls short...

Hulk...great launch
Spider-man...NUFF SAID
Dr. Doom...ok...so nothing special
Dudley-First water attraction to change angle in drop and go below waterline
Popeye-I believe is the fastest "raft" ride (25mph)
River Adventure-Ok, but look at the size of the drop!
Flying Unicorn-In same club as Stormforce
Dueling Dragons-First of it's kind (2 completely different dueling coasters that actually WEIGH each train to have 3 perfect near misses)

Catch what I'm getting at? I understand that they were a "quick fix" but like you said...why no effects?

I think Grizzly River Run at DCA is the fastest and tallest Raft Ride in the World.

I do think Storm Force would have been majorly better if it was enclosed and had strobes, lazers, smoke, and Music playing. Such a simply thing that could have really saved this ride and improved it greatly.

What kind of X-men ride would you make? I think an awesome Stunt Show is the ticket for X-men, maybe even a T2:3D style show with more live action stuff.
